Gostops Ooty

I have been in to ***y backpackers hostel and this hostel has the worst back packing culture. They allow families to stay and also that too with backpackers in the dorm. It was such a downer. The property is nice. Dorm too but the solo travellers and backpackers find the vibe too dull because there kids and families running around the property. One of the staff was very rude. Overall not a nice place for backpackers.

The facilities were amazing. Clean and nice place to stay. Hot water available 24 x 7. Clean bathrooms. Location is a bit far from the main market areas. Front desk guy was really cool and accommodating. Highly recommended for solo / family.

GoSTOPS OOTY PATHETIC EXPERIENCE!! STRICTLY NOT RECOMMENDED. 1. Located quiet away from the market , road under construction to the stay. Post 7ish one would not find it safe to travel back alone. 2. Defeated the actual experience of the stay at Gostops. To my and few other traveller's surprise there were family and kids staying at the property. This was my first ever gostop/zostel experience where I was surrounded with kids and family. This was a bizard. 3. While we would like you to make money but at the same time would want you to be realistic and work as per industry standards and not just charge this way and spoil the market standards. While the normal charges are approx 500-700 per night I was exborantly charged 2200 per night , I realized the same when my credit card was used and I immediately tried contacting them but there was no response. The number provided goes on to an automated call and all they say is your request is recorded and will get back and they would never get back. This happened with me for almost 3-4 times. When I checked in and asked the receptionist about the high charges he answered that due to heavy de***d the rates were increased , like really ? You would see the de***d and charge exorbitantly ?????? When we raise a query with Zostel or other places we immediately get a response and the issue is resolved but why not by Gostops ?? 4. My whole experience of a solo travel was spoiled due to the above mentioned things and I claim for a complete refund for this. This is just not accepted. You guys are fooling the traveller's. I have never had such experience during any of my solo travel but this one was the worst ever. @ Pallavi Agarwal Kindly look into it on immediate basis. I would request you to kindly take necessary action and not spoil the experience of traveller's in future. We traveller's come with certain mindset and would not want to go back with such bad experiences.

Ooty being really cold this time of the year, the property isn't warm enough . 1. The geiser didn't work and having no hot water to bathe was a real turn off for me. I really recommend they place more flasks around the property so people can drink warm water. 2. Camp fire is lit only if the property is full. So, i recommend they light the camp fire even if there are limited guests at a cost if needed. It was really needed and unfair that they didnt. 3. This is to just make note that the location is not very reachable to the main city. Finding auto/ transport is difficult and expensive.

Took a private room for our anniversary. First of all, the room had a per***ent foul smell. Secondly, there was a very frequent problem of water unavailability. Also, we kept telling the staff that there were mosquitoes in the room but they didn't take any action. Few more problems to which staff always said it's not available in the hostel: 1. Room service 2. Despite staying in a private room, you have to eat in the common area. Then what's the meaning of having a private room when you don't have privacy. 3. They have a very big menu but most of the things were not available to eat other than Maggie and momos. Can't even share one good experience. We could have stayed in a better hotel or a resort by paying a little extra. Consider only if looking for a stay in a Dom or a shared room.

Not meant for couples. Very irritating room. Should only focus on shared rooms and not private rooms. You won't get what you see. Very expensive and very suffocating room. No room service. You can't even take food into your private room. Don't consider if coming as a couple. You can get a better room in resort or hotel by paying a little extra.
