Hotel Lakeview

Stayed in a Villa Room for 3 nights from 29 Nov-2nd December. The picture in the website shows huge looking rooms, but in reality, they were average, with a living come dining and a small fire place, a small bedroom enough for 2 with not much of moving space, and a spacious bathroom with hot shower, though the floor is pretty slippery, so be careful. Checkin was fast, the staff at the reception was very friendly and pretty efficient and resolved the minor issues I faced immediately. I ate all my breakfasts and Dinner at the hotel, and the food was of good quality, though the portions are a bit small and the prices were reasonable. Service at the restaurant was also good. The property is in an isolated area, nothing around, no auto's outside, so you have to be dependent on the hotel Taxi which was very expensive. I took an auto from the Bus stand to the hotel and arranged with the taxi driver to pick me up the next day and the following for a reasonable charge. I paid 750 from 12 Noon - 5pm, to go shopping and lunch. On the return, he charged me 150 to get from Hotel to Bus stand, the same amount I paid to get from the Bus stand to the Hotel. Visited Moddys Cafe to try the chocolate and Churros and Strawberry and chocolate, nothing great, pretty average. Their chocolates are pretty expensive too. I bought my chocolates at King Star near the Botanical gardens n pretty good. I tried the much hyped Darjeeling Spicy momo and it was Crap, please avoid. Their manchow soup was the most disgusting I ever had. I also visited Hyderabad Biriyani House, and though crowded was good value, large portions and reasonably priced. On the whole, I had a pleasant stay at the Lake View Hotel. Its a large property, and I was lucky my room was close to the reception/restaurant. The room also had a little lawn with a table and 4 chairs, but it was too cold and the weather played spoilt sport with rains. Remember they charge 500 + tax for a heater and 225+ tax if you want a fire lit in the fire place. So go all warmed up.

The room services were very good. The rooms were very well maintained and it was clean. Overall very satisfied with the hotel. The hotel is near to all the tourist places and the view from hotel is very good. You get individual cottage for all the rooms.

The stay was nice. Place is also nice. Staff was very cooperative. The cleaning service is also nice. All the estate area is beautiful to see and clam place to stay...the bonfires was best part that you get, ofcourse it's chargeable but must have...

If you are considering booking this place, one word of advice: DON’T! This property has a deceptive description, and has hidden charges. It is in extremely poor condition, and rooms are disgusting. It is not a hotel as such, rather, a low grade holiday park with small cabins poorly equipped. The cabins are dirty (marks all over walls, tatty dirty drapes, uncleaned windows, grot in corners around the floor and bathroom. The bathroom has no shower screen or curtain thus everything in the small bathroom gets soaked when showering rendering the room useless for later use. The fees are deceptive. Located in a very cool area, with evening temperatures in single digits, there is no heating included: management will provide a heater at extra cost. In 30 years of travel to over 60 countries, staying in thousands of hotels, I have never found it required to pay extra for heating or cooling, until now! Laundry service is available: deceptive pricing. All items are priced as washing and ironing, including underwear. In effect this is payment for services not provided, since no underwear is ironed, and non-iron T-shirts etc are not ironed. The name of the hotel is deceptive. It is not a hotel in the true sense: a cabin park only, with long distances to walk to the reception and dining room. There is no view of the lake: just a view of other cabins. Staff are not receptive to requests, with requests having been made multiple times without result. The property is quite run down. Cabins have walls which have been marked and not clean, drapes are old, tatty and unclean, furniture is in poor repair, doors do not close properly, floor tiles chipped and marked. There is a page of excessive and restrictive “rules” which are not all acceptable. We have stayed one night, and although we have booked and paid for two nights we will vacate and find a proper hotel.

Our stay at Lake View Hotel was truly delightful. The hotel's prime location offers breathtaking views of Ooty Lake, creating a serene ambiance. The rooms were clean, comfortable, and well-maintained, providing a cozy retreat after a day of exploring the hills. The staff were incredibly friendly and helpful, going above and beyond to ensure our stay was memorable. Do visit this location if you are in a large group too take benefit of the bonfire.

Beautiful Property with amazing view. Easy accessible for most of the tourist places like Lake, Park, railway station, Bus stand etc, villa rooms are species with chimney additional to it. Food is good and hygienic. Friendly and helpful staffs .
