Used ******* to book a room the same night I arrived. The place looked closed as all was dark except the sign and desk area. The clerk was nice but spoke very softly and was difficult to hear and understand. Took my credit card info in case there were more charges--which I thought was odd (more about this in a moment). I checked in and was given room directions. The entire building was dark--no exterior lights on at all. Needed a flashlight to find our upstairs room. The room appeared clean and there were no odors. The darkness helped hide the age of this hotel. It is OLD and mostly outdated. I am sure there are monthly renters in the building as some transients were hanging around the building. There are updates but our room had cracks in ceiling, the HVAC selector didn't work, mold and peeling paint in bathroom, the phone was from a different room, and the TV kept speaking to us to connect to the wifi--very annoying. The bed was ok but not great, yet linens were clean. Plenty of towels and the shower had hot water--though very low pressure and it leaked continuously. Toilet was slow to flush. The amenities were scarce though there was wifi and the tv was a good size and worked but was slow in responding. NO BREAKFAST--just coffee, muffin and breakfast snack (some would say continental but that's a real stretch). This hotel is on ******* and Wyndham but that should be re-evaluated in my opinion, as the cost is really outrageous for what you get. It's a $50 room for $130. Some of the "great" reviews must've been staying at a different hotel! Which brings up another thing, I booked this through ******* and paid in advance, thinking I got a deal. Two days later, I saw I was not only charged by ******* but again by the hotel itself! Double charged! Except the hotel charge for the room was cheaper than what ******* charged me. I would advise people to go somewhere else for what this hotel costs per room. You will thank me for it! I did contact the hotel to get reimbursed for being double charged, and was told they saw it and I would receive my money back in a couple of weeks. We will see...
