Z Hotel

Beautiful hotel in fantastic location. Recommend the cottage if you can get it for the amount of space and privacy you have. It directly overlooks the ocean and is very special. It is a duplex room with a large deck and another balcony out from the upstairs bedroom. Staff are very friendly and helpful.

Spent 3 nights in late August 2024. The hotel rooms were excellent, very clean and comfortable. Staff was extremely friendly and accommodating with any requests and the food also good. The Sexy Fish restaurant was very good with a friendly staff. The hotel is right on the beach unfortunately there was a lot of seaweed while we were there so not so nice to swim but the pool was great. There is a row of shops immediately next door with vendors not too pushy just be prepared to negotiate. Would rate a 5 except for the seaweed.

We spent four nights at the Z Hotel in Zanzibar for our honeymoon, following four days of safari on the mainland. The hotel is beautiful and right on the beach with great views of the ocean from the infinity pool, dining areas, and even our room. There are multiple restaurants, we mainly ate at the cinnamon restaurant which had lots of options reasonably priced, and at Sexy Fish just for the morning breakfast - which was great. The fitness center is nice with great views as well. The room was a bit small but we didn't spend much time there, and we had a great view from our room of the ocean. The poolside area is nice with friendly staff. All of the staff was very friendly. It's a short walk to the ocean from the pool deck for a swim in the clear, blue water. If you are on the hotel property, security does an OK job of keeping any of the locals from approaching you to try and sell merchandise or activities. However if you wander even a few feet from the designated area, you will be hounded by locals which makes it hard to enjoy the beach itself or have any quiet time to enjoy the scenery. However, they are still nice and can be politely told no. But you have to tell them no sternly or they will continue to follow you on your walk, or hover you until you do. All in all, we really enjoyed our stay and the hotel staff was very kind. It was a much needed rest after four days of safari. We did one tour, which was the snorkeling/dolphin tour off Mnemba Island, and we scheduled through our tour agency, Brilliant Adventures and Safaris, who had a contact in Zanzibar they set us up with when we left the mainland. Amazing stay at this awesome hotel! Everything was perfect, we stayed in a cottage which was fantastic in every way with great views of the ocean. The pool and beach areas are amazing and all the facilities and restaurants too! The staff are unbelievably friendly helpful welcoming and we really couldn’t have asked for more!! We would 100% come back and plan too, as well as recommend this to anyone thinking of coming to Zanzibar. Last time we came we stayed in Paje, and even though we love everywhere in Zanzibar it’s especially nice up in Nungwi!!
