Ocean Breeze Executive Bed and Breakfast

This was a very nice place to stay! Walkable to the harbor and many restaurants and breweries. I felt very safe in the area. Just know Vancouver is very hilly and this BnB has about 15 stairs to get to the house. Very welcoming host - made you feel right at home and very helpful.

The accommodation was fine. However, there were some problems. First. there were 49 steps to our room and no elevator or anyone to assist with our luggage. We are elderly and had a difficult time with all the steps so we just pulled items from the trunk of the car as needed. Secondly. the owner although pleasant was a mother hen. She constantly watched and commented on every step we made which made us uncomfortable. Lastly, breakfast was very crowded with no menu choices. Our stay was just okay at best

The room doesnt not match the regular standar. You pay a 4 stars room when you enter in a equivalent discrete road motel. Breakfast was extremly poor and lack of privacy. Floor was too noisy, the landlord living i the low level complained because of noise. The fact to go to the bathroom in a very small room cause noise when you step. Next time a will go to a good hotel

A recent three day stay in North Vancouver turned into a lovely get-away. Margaret, the proprietor was the perfect hostess and I felt more at home than out of town. She welcomed me on my arrival with a tour of my choice of room as a couple of very nice suites were still available. I chose the Suite Romantica; the bathroom was the deciding factor with its walk-in shower and connecting huge soaker tub. We had a chat and a glass of wine while I checked in. Her freshly cooked, made to order breakfasts were delicious. Ocean Breeze is a peaceful place and has wonderful charm and character.

Lovely and cosy B&B, ideally situated to relax from a busy day. Stunning view of Vancouver skyline, everything in walking distance, shops, restaurants, public transport. Rooms and breakfast were excellent, the host made us feel at home.

All the reviews here, both good and bad, are accurate to some degree, but here is my take on some of the comments. My overall experience: Very good. Yes there are some stairs to navigate, but this is North Vancouver. The stairs aren't that bad unless you have mobility issues. Yes, Margaret might get chatty at times, but do you expect that she should not talk at all? She was friendly despite having a never-ending revolving door of guests. The price is actually not that bad considering that everything has gone up in price--everywhere. I'd rather stay here than in a dumpy 2-star hotel that charges the same price. The sounds from the harbour substation did not bother us at all. You could sometimes hear some constant hum late at night, but there was never any traffic noise in the street. Yes, you do have to call or email ahead with your check-in time, but Margaret is doing this alone and she's a human being who needs to go grocery shopping, go to appoin**ents, etc. She's not an anonymous hotel and can't sit by her front door all day! When I emailed her, I got a response right away. The room and bathroom were clean, the bed was spotless, and we slept very well. Her little dog Jazz is well-behaved and rarely barked. He's in the house because he's her baby. I'm not a dog person and I was impressed by how good he was. If you're looking for hotel service with maid service and a front desk at your beck and call, you are better off staying at the Sheraton. If you are looking for something less pricey with a good breakfast and a secure location, this is perfect. Anyone who has ever had to cook and clean for guests knows how stressful and hard it is to get everything just right. And Margaret is doing this all by herself with minimal help. Keeping that in mind, would we go back to Ocean Breeze? Yes! Margaret stays up late to set the table and makes delicious quality breakfasts. It's fun to sit at the table and meet people from around the world. She is a great host and works so hard. Street parking is plentiful and free. Lonsdale Quay is a short 10-minute walk. If you follow the Spirit Trail, you will see an industrial-looking area that is actually full of breweries and bars that sell local craft beers. We stayed 4 nights and enjoyed sitting out on the balcony in the peace and quiet. The most important thing though, was that everything felt clean and safe.

Booked a stay here back in March. Had to PREPAY for my stay which was no big deal until the day of arrival. We were told that because we did not call her to confirm our stay (hand on, we pre-payed for it right? Is that not enough confirmation?) that she had let someone else book the room. So now she’s double dipping on the room charges!! Said it was only booked for 1 person. Ok, our mistake we’ll pay for 2 but nope, already had someone else there!! Told me “what if you were dead? How would I know?” Is that even relevant if I’ve paid for the room??

This is the worst B&B we have ever stayed in. It was run down and pictures were not what was actually there. The price was way too much for what we got or were quoted. The woman running the place is overbearing and obnoxious. Her dog is cute, but barks when you are trying to sleep. The location is not an ocean view, but near huge grain storage silos and trains running day and night. Breakfast was supposed to be included, but first day food was mediocre and second day she did not want to serve us until 9:30 and we needed to head out earlier, so we found a nice coffee shop nearby instead. There were no common sitting areas, just a cramped dining table with broken chairs. The kitchen was filthy.

Margaret was a wonderful host who prepares some delicious breakfasts. Her little dog, Jazz, was a welcome surprise since we had to leave our own dog at home. Ocean Breeze is a brisk 15-minute walk from the Lonsdale Quay Market and the Seabus, and that made it super easy to get around using transit.
