Leopard Mountain Safari Lodge

The lodge is beautiful with an amazing view. We saw many animals on the game drives and the guide was very knowledgeable and friendly. All the staff of the lodge was very nice and made sure we had a good time during our stay. The chalets are spacious and decorated with style.

We recently stayed at Leopard Mountain with 8 other guests from our cruise ship and it surpassed all expectations. This was our first "safari" trip - and we found the 4 day/3 night trip allowed us to see everything we wanted. Ross, our game driver guide, was incredible. He made sure we saw everything we wanted, educated us on tracking animals, and reminded us to appreciate the moments we had with the animals and not just concentrate on the photo. The accommodations were perfect. We were in Chalet 2 and heard no one in the other chalets the entire trip. We had a private deck, air-conditioning, a hammock, plunge pool, and our room was stocked with everything we could need. And the food was fantastic (and that bread!). They accommodated so many dietary requirements - and we had more food than we could eat (with plenty of choices). We loved the lunchtime picnic baskets and chose to have those in private on our deck. The entire staff went above and beyond - and they always had a smile on their faces! We thought this would be our first and only safari - but after meeting everyone at Leopard Mountain we are planning our return trip! Thanks for a magical stay.

Absolutely unique experience. Incredible views from the lodge. A unique moment when a nyala was born 20 m next to the lodge during breakfast. Super friendly, helpful staff. Ross was a great guide on the safaris. Delicious food, delicious wine. All in all, a stay like no other.

The Lodge is beautifully located with big, comfortable rooms. We loved the view from our private terrace and from the main building! The service was excellent and all the staff were amazing. We would specifically like to mention George and our guide Alex, but everyone did a fantastic job. The game drive experiences were our highlight - from the hot water bottles for the chilly morning drives, our guide's expertise and respect for the reserve's wildlife to the cosy coffe/tea or drinks/snacks stops during the drives. The only minor criticism I have were that the water temperature in our shower was difficult to adjust (often either too hot or too cold) and that they were lacking allergy friendly spa products when we were there (had a minor skin reaction to massage oil due to sensitive skin/allergies). However, they might have addressed this already as we were there in August 2022. Overall I can highly recommend staying at Leopard Mountain Lodge as you can expect a truly unique experience!

We stayed for 2 nights, this is a very special game lodge, way better than Phinda. Sean our game ranger was a star, we saw the big 5 and he didn’t rush from one animal to the next. His knowledge was very interesting and we won’t forgot his amazing game drives. The other lady Ziko was so helpful and we felt at home. We will definitely be back. The plunge pools and the picnics were such a treat and so different to the other lodges we have stayed at. The views are like National Geographic. The food was amazing and they accommodated my daughters who are sometimes fussy. Mushroom and biltong soup was outstanding and the high teas before the game drive was sumptuous!! My daughters wanted to stay longer but we will definitely book 3 nights next time.

There was nothing about our visit that wasn't perfect, from our game driver, who not only worked hard to make each of our drives memorable and very much succeeded but also hugely impressed us with his knowledge across the spectrum of fauna and flora as well as his bionic eyesight in the dark! Nothing was too much trouble, including patience with all our endless questions. We’ve had some excellent game drivers during the many years that we have been visiting S.A. but he outshone them all to George our superb dining attendant. Is there a moment when he doesn’t smile? He clearly stood out as someone who always goes the extra mile looked after us with true dedication, making us feel like we were the only guests. Perfection came in the presence of George. All the staff we met were looked happy to be doing their respective jobs and nothing was ever too much trouble and all are gold star assets of Leopard Mountain. Finally and just as important the excellent kitchen team presented us with wonderful food, with imagination, from breakfast through to dinner but we reserve our highest praise for her soups and her delicious lunchtime picnic baskets. If you feel in need of spoiling yourself, this is the place where they will do it.

We stayed 3 nights at Leopard Mountain at the end of our 3 week holiday in South Africa. We have travelled a lot over the years and stayed in several different styles of accommodation but the suites at Leopard Mountain are the best accommodation we have ever stayed in. The suites are beautiful with big picture windows overlooking the amazing countryside. We were very lucky, and very happy, to stay in suite 2 which has an amazing view over the Msunduzi and surrounding area. The beds are super comfy and it was a delight to watch the sunrise from our bed. The suites were clean, spacious with plenty of room for our luggage. The WIFI was a bit intermittent but that was due to a lightening strike a few days prior to our visit and I believe this has now been sorted. The balcony/deck has comfy seats and a hammock to relax in while enjoying the view and ever changing sky and light. Some suites are amongst the trees and bushes and here you can seen impalas, warthogs and other wildlife pass by your door. The meals are all inclusive and very varied and tasty. The picnic lunches can be eaten in your suite, by the Lily pond or in the main lodge and the evening meals are taken in the Boma (weather permitting). Leopard Mountain has a good stocked wine cellar, some wines are included and others are available at an extra cost. The included wines were good and we didn’t feel the need to sample the premium wines. Our ranger was Sean, who remained our ranger throughout our stay. He was very enthusiastic, knowledgable and keen to show us all that Leopard Mountain and Manyoni had to offer. We saw 4 out of the Big 5: unfortunately the Leopard didn’t make an appearance. However, we saw a lion with 2 cubs and a baby elephant so that made up for missing the Leopard. We also saw plenty giraffes, zebras, impalas, wildebeest, water buffalo, warthogs, a hippo and a crocodile and a wide variety of birds. We really enjoyed the game drives, especially the ‘Rangers Special’ at our coffee break during the morning game drive. We also had a chance to go to the Rhino orphanage and saw and hear about the amazing work they do there. An extra mention has to be made regarding the staff who work at Leopard Mountain. Everyone was very helpful and keen to make sure that we had the best time ever. Nothing was too much trouble. We were even discouraged to take en empty picnic basket back to the main lodge after lunch. Our stay just wasn’t long enough so we are seriously thinking about coming back for a much longer time next year.

Once in a lifetime experience. The entire staff was amazing. Cleanliness 5 star… Service 5 star… Safari guide 5 star. Their attention to detail is top notch You will not regret visiting this place. Great for couples or singles alike. This place is magical!

The ambiance here is very special. Really lovely rooms, very good food and staff who made every effort to make the stay a special one - which they certainly succeeded in doing. Our safari guide, Sean, was exceptionally knowledgeable and put together a great series of drives. His passion for what he does shone through. Three memorable nights and days. Thank you!
