The Modernist Hotel

It’s a spacious hotel and good value of money, especially in New York City!! It’s also very clean!

Absolutely wonderful hotel with spacious, clean rooms, an incredibly warm and welcoming staff, and an art gallery that was the perfect place to enjoy a morning latte. I loved the residential feeling of the neighborhood (made me miss living in Queens) and how close we were to multiple trains and Manhattan. We even purchased some art from the gallery to take home with us. If you like to sleep in late, consider bringing a sleep mask because the rooms get amazing natural light in the morning. We will absolutely be returning!

First time staying here and definitely not my last. The front desk staff was super friendly and attentive. The room was clean and offered a lot of nice amenities for the kitchenette and dining room area. I would definitely stay here again.

Great decor, very clean, very spacious. Aaron at front desk was great at check in. Though the bed we had in Room 700 squeeked a lot for the softest of movement. Unable to sleep comfortably, infomred manager/front desk at check out but wasnt offered any voucher or credit on anything

We loved our stay! Super cute room, spacious, comfy bed, very clean! Front desk was very welcoming. It is a family owned and run business, so we LOVE to support our locals. It was perfect for a mini getaway as new parents away from our baby.

Only thing preventing me from providing a perfect rating and booking again in the future, is the $350 hold that’s taking upwards to a week to come back to me. Doesn’t sit well with me and it seems pretty steep, other than that, great hotel

Property was easy to find. There’s street parking but if you come back late at night, it’s harder to find parking. Front desk was friendly. We booked a king bedroom and when we got in, it smelled like **** and cigarettes even though they tried to mask the smell with a citrus spray in the room. I was allergic to smoke so I stood outside while my partner called the front desk if we could switch to a different room. The front desk was accommodating and switched us to a king suite on the 4th floor. This room didn’t have any bad scent. It had a couch and the leather couch was sinked in. There’s ac and heat you could adjust. It came with bath robes, towels, toiletries, slippers, has eating utensils. Some of the towels have stains. The bathroom had a very mild mildew and urine scent. The bed sheets were clean with no hair. This hotel is very quiet and was able to get some sleep in. I appreciate they had a firm pillow available and the bed was also firm. I would recommend it for 1-2 night stay. It is very close to manhattan and also flushing driving distance.

My husband and I were in town for a few music business events and settled on The Modernist for its location near to transit that allowed easy access to Bushwick, Chelsea and Midtown where our events took place. We loved our Premiere King with balcony (especially the room to do yoga in the morning!) And we're very impressed with the friendly and attentive staff. We will be back!

The hotel is in an industrial portion of Queens but Uber friendly to Brooklyn and Manhattan. The hotel room I had was gorgeous (2 Queen Beds with glass sliding doors leading to a small balcony). The mini kitchenette was very convenient and they provide glassware and dishware.
