The Greenwich Hotel

‘Is New York the city without service? ‘ This is exactly what crossed our minds when we checked out of The Greenwich Hotel in March: Front of house staff are disinterested & one staff member was belligerent, we were shocked & upset by this. The rooms are very average & not particularly well thought out for a 5 star hotel, they lack attention to detail. The drawing room is dark and members of staff are hostile, we actually felt too uncomfortable to stay in the room for a coffee, so we just left. The hotels finance department made several errors. The only positive is Locanda Verde restaurant. We had breakfast here. Our waiter was excellent, the food was great & we thoroughly enjoyed this experience. The restaurant wasn’t busy but it was nice to see a handful of New Yorkers enjoying both the great food & vibe. Since our return, we took time and verbally communicated our disappointment to the UK based Sales Manager but all we have received is an email from the Front Office Manager that lacked both fact & sincerity. Thankfully, the remainder of our stay at The Carlyle was fabulous and we experienced ‘Exceptional service in New York City’.

Love everything about this hotel. The staff are so lovely, the rooms are comfortable, the library with fireplace on a cold night was the perfect spot for after dinner drinks and coffee in the morning. The pool experience is super relaxing and zen.

This hotel was the perfect spot for relaxing and enjoying Tribeca. The front desk staff was outstanding and room service was great. The lobby and bar are both cozy and inviting. I’ll definitely be back! I also enjoyed walking along the water at the nearby park.

Everything about this hotel was just beyond lovely... The entire staff went above and beyond to make sure our stay was perfect. I had an incredible corner suite, with the chicest decor and furnishings, a spectacular bathtub and the coziest bed... We ate at Locanda Verde a few times and it was delicious. The hotel is in a fantastic and easy downtown location and I would stay here again and again... cannot wait to come back!!

This hotel is amazing from the chicken at the front desk where they were so sweet they even gave my daughter a stuffed animal me and my wife and I feel like family it was quite an amazing check in all the way through to the amazing room very cool design comfortable and a great size. We also got to enjoy the lobby lounge and had an amazing dinner at their restaurant the places very cool worth staying at my wife and I and our youngest daughter were there we really enjoyed it

They did a beautiful job with this hotel. Luxurious, but charming. Not cookie-cutter modern like so many luxury hotels in NYC. Beautifully lit. Wonderful wood floors throughout. Comfortable furniture. Spacious room. All non-alcohol minibar items are free (this is a relatively small thing, but just makes the stay that much more comfortable). The lobby is beautiful and cozy. The bar/lounge is very comfortable. It was so cozy during the holidays with a big Christmas tree and a wood burning fire. And without exception, the staff couldn't have been any nicer. I used to live in Manhattan, and didn't know Tribeca well. It's a great neighborhood. A little quieter than where we usually stay, which was very nice. But easy to get to the place we normally go when visiting. We will definitely prioritize this hotel in future visits.

The Greenwich Hotel is our accommodation of choice when in NYC. The staff is superior! The Hotel Concierge staff coordinated our transportation, activities and dining which was greatly appreciated. A specific "shout out" to Kris and Salvatore. The location of the hotel is ideal. Nestled away from the tourists allowing us to enjoy what the city has to offer while creating a serene and relaxing environment. We look forward to returning.

With its exquisite designs and hospitality fervor, the Greenwich Hotel in Tribeca spells: 'Welcome to our Oasis". It has a design affinity to top up the nooks and crannies of the property with bespoke "Old World Craftmanship " whether that's Parisian hand carved millwork, one of a kind Tibetan rugs, English leather furnishings, Carrara marble, Moroccan tile, Italian palazzo terra cotta flooring, a 250 year old farmhouse imported from Japan and all manner of the artisan from far flung corners of the world. Each room is uniquely differentiated but I relished my spacious Courtyard Suite with exceptional sitting area that promoted a cozy aura to the surroundings. The bath was exceptional with a large walk-in rain forest shower, deep soaking tub, dual basin marble vanity and full compliment of accoutrements befitting a hotel of this caliber. There are 2 venues for eating and drinking: The Drawing Room and Locanda Verde. The former is an exclusive amenity for hotel guests that offering a quiet atmosphere to drink and dine from the Locanda Menu. The Locanda is a bustling tavern-styled facility serving Italian food-fare. The menu is seasonal but you are bound to find star items like My Grandmother's Ravioli and Sheep's Milk Ricotta. I went with my old stand by: Lamb Chops, but I did muster up some Liver Mousse. An exemplary amenity is the Shibui Spa: a luxurious facility that has it all.......from beautiful lounges to unique treatments for all kinds of revitalizations and opens up to an incredible pool with access to a top-notch gym center. So if you like luxe to the max, embedded with an old world aesthetic and a sanctuary ambiance..........then try the.........Greenwich Hotel..........an exquisitely designed property.

For the price of our room, the accommodations were super disappointing. The studio "suite" felt much smaller than 650sf and the vibe was shabby, with worn furniture, a leather couch with cushions so misshapen it was un-sittable, and odd thrift-store knick-knacks on the shelves. Drinks and snacks were free, and we appreciated the water, but found all the grocery store candy an odd choice. Also, the nespresso machine had a used, wet, unreleased capsule still in the machine. The welcome note with a bottle of wine and treats was a nice touch, but the sweets were stale. Our room overlooked an adjacent building with a large mural of James Dean(?) - in warmer months when there would be some green, it might have seemed more charmingly urban, but in winter, the view was drab and a bit depressing. The bathroom was the best part of the room - it was very large, beautifully appointed and the water pressure was fire-hose strong! I also appreciated the dyson hair dryer. We had a few meals in the lounge which is very comfortable (and dog friendly!) and the food and service both get a solid B+. Front desk staff were friendly and helpful as well. Overall, I'd give the stay a 2.5 - if the room had cost under $1,000, instead of $2100, I might give it a 4.
