How can they live with themselves when putting paying customers in a gutter-like room like mine? Bathroom ceiling visibly damaged upon arrival (see photo, room 222) and a large puddle of water on the bathroom floor the next morning. Shower wall covered with black hairs. Puke-like stain on the floor next to the bed. Safe not working. Bar closed for the night. In all, unhygienic and a health risk. Avoid this place at all cost!

Booked the package hotel and dinner. Room was clean bed comfy although we were on the front could not hear traffic. Good walk, in shower and the dinner was perfect. three courses, wine and water and not house wine.

Located literally just off the motorway next to the fuel station, don’t let that put you off, it’s more than far enough away to not even be aware of it The rooms are spacious, clean and modern. The restaurant is lovely - welcoming and relaxed. The food is very good and the breakfast is just awesome. Only slight grumble for us was the noise from the motorway (if your room is facing that way of course). It’s not an issue if you don’t have the sliding patio window open but it’s nice to sit on the balcony in the summer, yes there is a good sized balcony on all the room facing the motorway. There is plenty of free parking at the hotel too, which is a bonus. Not sure if the rear facing rooms have balconies too, but if so, would be ideal as they overlook woodlands Staff are very friendly and helpful The hotel is great value too - at least it was when we booked it a few months in advance

This is a nice hotel just off the E17 outside Ghent. Easy to get to by car with a good restaurant and an excellent breakfast. Good beds and air conditioning. We had rooms on road side which meant that it was a bit noisy, understandable that close to the motorway. Not much else close by, but a good stop off between Ghent and Lille.

Nice receptionists. The housekeeping collects all dirty dishes and glasses from the customers on a table in the corner near the elevator and they leave it there for days... we have never seen that especially not in (normally very clean) Van der Valk hotels...

Overall, the hotel is old and in desperate need of refurbishment. No ventilation in the room of any kind and no ability to open a window (we were on the ground floor and the only opening window was the patio door, which obviously had to be locked shut at night for security reasons) - it was like sleeping in sealed box, probably breaking health and safety regulations. The supplied fan was falling apart and very noisy. The corridor to the room smelled dirty, damp and unhygienic. Most staff were nice but one woman in the restaurant was agressive, barging guests out of her way to get to the food counters at breakfast. Limited vegetarian options on the restaurant menu. No non-dairy milk supplied at breakfast - I had to ask for it.
