We booked Glenfield Plantation for 2 nights/mystery dinner show thinking it would be enjoyable and convenient to other Natchez activities. Huge mistake! The play was done by amateurs except for one actor….some didn’t know their lines or deliver them well. Total rip off for dinner and show which lasted less than 2 hours with multiple intermissions for food serving ( which oddly enough was done by the “actors”): $89 plus tax and 20% gratuity. Both bnbs’ hosts were knowledgeable and friendly, and the breakfasts were good. Unfortunately in my opinion, the house is filthy….not dirty…FILTHY! Wanted to leave shortly after arriving, however; we would have lost hundreds of dollars and may not have found another place since check-in is at 4 pm. The entire home is in dire need of repairs. There were cobwebs and ants in the bathroom, toilet had a ring of some unknown substance, stains in the bath tub, dust everywhere, peeling paint, badly applied wallpaper, bugs inside dusty vases, chair cushions with stains or badly worn and frayed, ceiling falling and exposing wood above, shifting bath floor tile, painter’s tape on vent, mold/mildew around a/c vents….I could go on and on. The smell in the entire place was off-putting…not sure what it was. And, that is just some of the inside. The outside is even more tragic. According to what I have researched, the owners do not belong to the BBB, Natchez Bed and Breakfast Association, or Mississippi Bed and Breakfast Inns. I guess I should have done my homework first. The pictures/write-up posted by the bnb do not honestly reflect its actual state. Preserving historic integrity has nothing to do with cleanliness. So many plantations do both well.
