Hotel Troy

This was the third time we brought a group to Hotel Troy. The management is very friendly & eager to make the experience one of the best. The staff are always kind & want to help. The food is top notch. Highly recommend for small or large groups!

Great ambience outdoors and indoors, amazing nature with trees and one can spot some friendly monkeys. I enjoyed the samosas and great service Definitely a favorite of mine and will be back. The place has been renovated and they now have themed nights

Good hotel with nice location near by bomas Rooms are clean and comfortable.Bathrooms are spacious and clean .Staffs are friendly and helpful Would definitely recommend this hotel to everyone I would have say one world about this hotel location It's mesmerized 😊🌈 Date of stay-02nd Oct-08th Oct-2022

Before writing this review I tried to contact the owner /MD to inform her of my possible review. This hotel was to be the worst in Nairobi. Our ´deluxe´twin room was about as far from deluxe as you can get. The window didn´t close, nor could it be forced because the glass was broken. The TV didn´t work even though a young man came up to repair it. There was no kettle or safe in the room, and the two double beds as advertised on their web site were singles with one bedside table, no bedside lights and holes in the mosquito nets. The shower was so hot it was impossible to use. The receptionist offered us the use of another room to shower in. On investigation, our room didn´t have cold water connected the pipe was hanging loose. We were finally moved to a two bedroomed cottage in the grounds, which was better. Still very dirty, two dining chairs (how 4 people could eat I have no idea) and dangerous at night as the outside lights didn´t work. As the wifi didn´t work we were given a mobile router, which was removed the next day, when this was queried at approximately 14.30 we were told it must be housekeeping. At 17.15 it was returned having been used somewhere else, which the staff knew perfectly well. Breakfast was a disaster the first two days, the menu for the restaurant, which still had Chris**as decorations hanging up, was nothing like the one on their web site and the place was filthy, with electrical cables everywhere, broken window panes, missing lamp shades, bulbs, kitchen cupboards I wouldn´t have stored fertiliser in and an air of tiredness and being unloved. I have pictures but prefer to share them with the owner/MD before sharing them on here.The receptionist on check in/check out was lovely and we felt sorry for her having to deal with the problems.

We were so disappointed in the Hotel Troy, we left after one night. Many things were broken in my room, there were ants crawling all over the floor. The staff were very pleasant but way too few, so service was quite poor. Tea at breakfast the next morning took one hour to receive. I tried numerous times through emails and phone calls to speak with hotel management but still have not heard back from anyone regarding my concerns. I hope they'll do better! It's a pretty property.

I booked with the hotel directly (we just needed a couple of nights at the end of our holiday). It took at least 2 days to respond to any email. They forgot to collect us at the airport and my booking had not been relayed to the reception staff. Hence, the Executive Suite we had booked with an extra bed was not organised, so we were 'upgraded' to the 2-bed cottage. Positives - the beds were large and comfy, the shower was powerful and hot (especially in the 2nd bedroom ensuite). The included breakfast was plentiful. There's lots of dodgy bits, though. Shower taps were hanging loose from the wall, the bathroom door handles were not fixed on properly, some of the windows didn't close properly, there were huge cracks in the floor. Staff were friendly. Our room wasn't cleaned (the cleaner told me the next day it was because she didn't have a key). We won't be staying again.

The cottage room was nice and pretty, with a little common area with couches and a kitchenette. The double room on the other side, not so much. Very hard to sleep because of the dogs barking or wimping most of the night and very basic room. The place is sadly run down, garden might have been beautiful in the past but could use some maintenance and the dining room is cold and unfriendly. Food was not the best we had. Still a good option if you just want a room to sleep and don’t want to spend too much. This is also conveniently located next to the elephant orphanage, the giraffe center and Nairobi National Park.

Pros: the front desk staff were really nice and quite helpful. When we were pretty disappointed with our cottage they immediately changed us to 2 bedrooms in the hotel, which were of a higher standard. Breakfast was fine. Location was quiet. Cons: our cottage was pretty bad. There was a hole in a bathroom window. Many of the windows didn’t lock. We couldn’t lock the main Door when we were there. There were many ants. The bathrooms were not very clean. It maybe was that we just had bad luck with the cottage as many other guests enjoyed their cottage experience. Who knows. Also I recommend you use Uber for all transportation. The driver for the place, although he is truly very nice, does cost slot so we only used him for back and forth to the airport.
