The hotel is like an old American motor inn. The entrances to the rooms open directly outside. The reception area is not staffed 24/7. Reception is closed from 11:00 p.m. to 7:00 a.m. When I arrived at the motel at 3:00 p.m. and entered the reception area, there was no one at the desk. Instead, I rang a bell and the receptionist arrived to check me in. We were given a room on the first floor which was convenient for unloading luggage. The room is bare bones. The bed and pillows were very firm. There is also a very small television and refrigerator. The rooms have a regular key rather than a swipe card so rooms do not look upon closing the door; you have to lock the door with the key when you leave. Breakfast is included but it isn't really breakfast. It is self-serve coffee, tea, juice, and croissants. This hotel offers a clean stopping point for travelers exploring Japan's west coast but it is not a luxurious vacation hotel.
