Hotel Tropico Monteverde

We loved the place. The rooms are gorgeous with fabulous views over the rolling hills all the way to the Pacific Ocean. Spotless and clean. Everything is forst class. The Italian restaurant attached to the 5 rooms is attractive with excellent food. The owner, Jose, and his staff are warm and friendly. Highly recommend a stay there.

Best place to stay in Monte Verde. Incredible location for sunsets. Very welcoming hosts. Bungalows are definitely de-luxe! Food is incredible. Wait staff are very charming. Reception helped organised tours, tour guides, and any transport needs.

This a lovely place to stay for a couple. It's comfortable, unique, clean, well appointed and in a beautiful location. The owner and host, Jose, will take care of everything and answer all your questions. He arranged a guided night hike for us and got us a reservation at a restaurant called Nativo where we had a great meal. We also had good breakfasts and a nice dinner at the hotel restaurant. It took us about 10-15 minutes to walk down to the main part of town. And at night it was very easy to get a taxi after a late dinner. The beautiful views are well worth the small distance to shops. Highly recommend!!

I had such a comfortable stay at Hotel Tropico. From the moment you arrive the staff and the owner, Jose, make you feel at home. I had dinner on the first night in the restaurant and Jose made sure to introduce himself and make sure we had all of our activities planned for the next day. Nancy and Cristal were both friendly and wonderful and really helped me when I needed a last minute taxi or when my tour didn't arrive. It was such a nice feeling to stay at a hotel so small that everyone knows who you are and cares about you. The dinner I ate here was one of the best dinners I had in Monteverde, with a very unique menu. I had an early morning tour scheduled and they let me put in my breakfast order the night before and even came to breakfast early so I could make my tour. I enjoyed eating the to-order breakfast (I got a fruit place an an omelet with coffee and fresh juice). Besides the incredible staff, the room was very comfortable, clean, and spacious. I liked that the hotel was a little outside the town so that it was quiet and calm. The only issue I had was that at night the wind can be very loud, but I got used to it and slept well. The location is great, and it's not difficult to walk to town (about 20min), but taking a quick taxi was often an easier option. The property is really nice and the views of the valley are breathtaking. I would stay here again in a heartbeat.

This is one of the best boutique hotels I have ever stayed in. It is fairly basic but very intimate - only having 5 lodges. The restaurant is brilliant if you like Italian food - as they have a wood fire pizza oven. I liked that the hotel did not own the restaurant so the restaurant had to be good to survive - it is good and you have to book to get a table. The location is located the other side of the hill from the cloud forest so you get some great views without clouds! Easy drive to centre of town and also to the cloud forest areas. Really like the owner Jose - and his niece who was our waitress. We had originally booked this hotel as the other (more luxury) hotels were full - but it turned out to be our favourite hotel of the 4 we stayed at in Costa Rica. Patrick

This was a wonderful place. Friendly, helpful staff who made you feel like friends. Shout out to Jose & Nancy! Very helpful arranging tours. The room was well appointed with great sunset views. The food was excellent as well. Throughly enjoyed our three nights.

Wonderful, spacious and clean bungalows; all with amazing views. Jose was so welcoming, and helped us book activities in the area. We loved watching the sunset from our patio and relaxing on the swinging chair in the garden. The restaurant was top-notch, with great Italian offerings. We also booked an excellent on-site massage. Can't beat the restful atmosphere, just outside of town.

Trópico Monteverde’s five bungalows boast breathtaking views all the way to the Pacific. They are spacious, comfortable and nicely appointed. The inn is easily accessible to all Monteverde attractions. It is a small property, where Jose, Nancy and staff are extremely kind and attentive to your every need. They are happy to help with bookings and offer suggestions.

Wow! What a cute place! We arrived a little early, but were able to check into our rooms. Jose greeted us and was so helpful in getting a few tours for us and restaurant suggestions. Everything he suggested worked out perfectly and was very fun. The hotel is a quaint, family run business and it couldn't be more perfect. The view is fantastic.....a beautiful sunset every night!! The furnishings are beautiful and comfortable. The sheets and pillows are comfy. You can tell it's a relatively new build, because they have huge windows and decks to take in the view. There is a small refrigerator in the room, which came in handy. The restaurant in the hotel is very good and so convenient. We ate there several times and always enjoyed the food, especially the wood fired pizza!! We would highly recommend staying here while in Monteverde. It's on the edge of town, but still convenient to everything without the crowds and you get the wonderful view.
