I have been visiting Montepulciano for many years, and I have stayed in different types of accommodations (spas, hotels, rented apartments), but family owned B&B Vicolo dell Oste is my new favorite. It is perfectly located, just a few steps from the Corso and just across the street from Cafe Poliziano, which is the best place in town for that morning cappuccino or evening glass of wine. The owners, Luisa and Giuseppe, treat you as though you are a member of their family, and they are always ready with a great recommendation for a restaurant or anything else you might need. (Luisa introduced me to L'Altro Cantuccio, a small restaurant with innovative Italian cuisine, which is now one of my three favorite restaurants in a town known for great food as well as great wine.) The rooms and suites are simple, but comfortable and spotlessly clean. They are also a great value, especially given their location in the heart of this wonderful hill town. There are only a limited number of rooms, though, so plan early if you can. You will feel at home here.
