Mondello Beach Rooms

Having been many places in Italy, Mondello is bit of a tourist trap. The most beautiful scenery somewhat destroyed by not the best of italian tourists & inhabitants. Garbage all over, street sellers and restaurants yelling at most corners, very high prices for low quality experiences and a general non-inclusive offensive behavior. Do not travel here and expect the traditional Italian atmosphere, hospitality and great Italian food experiences.

Having just gotten engaged we wanted to explore a little. We were so pleased to stumble upon Mondello beach. It was fantastic. The burger restaurant needs to sort some of its miserable waiters out but other than that the location is fantastic.

Reminds me the worst places in Alanya Turkey 15 years ago. Do not travel here and expect the traditional Italian atmosphere, hospitality and great Italian food experiences.

Easily reached from Palermo by bus , Beautiful beach , gradual sloping water depth of the most beautiful azure blue, we paid on one of the lidos , not cheap cost 28 euro for two per day , public part of the beach was very narrow with a lot of beach vendors on it , worth a visit

The beach is beautiful, see-through and also there is lifeguards on duty ,not alot of space to put towel due to all sunbeds and unbrellas that are there which is an pity ,i enjoyed swimming here despite the crowds,think peak season will be really busy

The beach is very crowded, impossible to find a spot if you are a decent tourist. We paid for parking 5 euros, 4 euros for 2 bottles of water , we went along the beach to find a small place, finally we could reach the water which was blurry. We could not stay and went out, wayyyy too maannyy people.

Awful…..avoid ….28 Euros for sun beds and that is the off peak charge. Will be 38 in Jul/ Aug ….private beach clubs have much of the beach so you are packed like sardines in the tourist area. There was zero space in the free area and it was not a place you would want to sit. On the mainland Sorrento was even more expensive if you wanted a day at the beach. Will never go back to a beach in Italy/Sicily again

The beach is beautiful, but way way too many private lounges and only a small fraction of the beach available to public. BE WARNED, we departed our hotel, went to bus stop and asked the driver where to purchase tickets. He showed me tickets and hurriedly ushered us on the bus because we were holding the que up. I'm 62 and expected to approach the driver to puchase shown tickets, all of a sudden traffic cops appeared demanded our passports and 53 euro each, refused to listed to our version, i demanded the police come. They came, no one spoke to us, winks all round, so we paid the money and tried very hard to trust anyone again. Mondello Beach only sells tickets at a newsagent 2km up the road, I didnt know this of course. I wasnt in for a free ride that only cost 5 euro, but I was probably the only one on that bus that had the cash to hand over, what they did with that cash is anyones guess

A beautiful beach stuck in a 1970s tourist vibe surrounded by overflowing stinking dumpsters. Way overcrowded and over priced. The lidos are expensive and the free section is pretty grotty. The over-priced restaurants in the piazza are also stuck in the 70s. Why would anyone stay here when an amazing beach like Cefalù is just over an hour away? Our best day in Mondello was the day we caught the bus to Palermo and spent the day there. Mondello Beach is best avoided.
