Hotel’s 4th floor is under construction and we did not know this until we were given a room on the 3rd floor and heard it above (sounds like bowling balls dropping on ceiling and drilling). Went upstairs to look for the pool (it’s not upstairs), and saw an active construction site with our own eyes, workers running around in construction gear. We asked front desk what the hours of noise would be and Mary denied knowing about the construction or the hours. Repeatedly told us an air conditioner was being installed and that’s it. We asked if anyone might know, and then she said it would be Mon-Fri 9-5 (so she did know). We’d mostly be at the beach so we decided to let it go. We went for dinner at 5:30 and it was still going on. It then started at 8:20am on Saturday. Mary again denied it was happening as it was happening. In total we talked to her half a dozen times and she only said nothing could be done about it and the manager was never around. Again we let it go. When we finally got to speak to another employee at the end of our trip, she said the manager had been there, and he then said we should have said something sooner (!!). Very frustrating how they handled it and lied. Had they been honest, we would have moved hotels or at least asked for another room.
The hotel needs a remodel, just please tell your guests about construction. And don’t put guests on the floor below it then gaslight them when they ask about it.
