Reddans of Bettystown Luxury Bed & Breakfast, Restaurant and Bar

We stayed here in June 2022. We liked the idea of a hotel near the beach. Ask for a Seaview room as the other side faces the main road. Plus points were : great views, large room, plenty of hot water for shower or bath, lift to upper floors, great full breakfast and helpful staff. Not so good: NO WIFI in the room, despite having two WiFi networks to choose from the only way to get WiFi was to access it from the bar or restaurant, despite breakfast being good the rest of the food offerings were not so great. There is a Chinese restaurant across the street which was Ok and there are plenty of good pubs and restaurants in nearby Drogheda.

Staff are very rude the wait time on food was an hour and 10 minutes. On arrival we had been told no kids but we had no kids? Under no circumstances order the chicken wings as they are a disgrace hard and overcooked. Overall experience was terrible would not recommend eating here.

Stayed for one night for the Laytown Races, was perfect location for this. We had a family room which was really large with a massive large bed and two singles, could see the sea from the room and everything was nice and clean. Large bathroom with shower and bath and very ornate tiles. The shower was interesting with water jets from the side. Didn't like having the shower curtain as felt a little enclosed, a door would have been better. There were no toiletries, only a shower gel fixed to wall of the shower which made it difficult to use and some soap. Room had tea/coffee facilities. There is a pub and restaurant onsite and a nice lounge area with TV showing sport. Breakfast was freshly made and really nice. Location is right on the lovely beach, long stretches of sand and all very clean. Close to supermarket, not too many places to eat, we had food at the races so didn't try out anything close by, the hotel did have a carvery. We came in from Dublin on the train to Laytown and then walked to hotel. Looked like there was a good bus route to neighbouring towns.

Just back first time here needed recharge the batteries absolutely fabulous from staff, to room to food, to location, I could have sat all day at window watching the waves , Thankyou Reddans we will be back

This is the place to be in Bettystown. Super friendly staff. Amazing breakfast. The beach right on the doorstep. Bust stop just outside the door with regular busses. Only downfall is parking spaces, there is only a few and they could do with a few more.

8 of us booked a weekend in Reddans to walk the Boyne Valley Camino. From the initial phone calls to book, the hotel staff were so friendly & accommodating & we all booked 2 nights b&b with one evening meal. Restrictions were still in place & the hotel were meticulous in following and implementing them to keep all the guests safe. The hotel is perfectly situated right on the glorious Bettystown beach - our one regret about our weekend us that we hadn’t enough time for a long walk along it. We had thought to eat out on the Friday night when we arrived but many places weren’t open so we opted to eat in the hotel - great food . Next day, we did our self guided Camino walk - great day though we added a few miles on by getting lost. Footsore & weary, we were happy to be back in lovely Reddans & they put on a fantastic fixed menu for dinner for our group. Amazing value. Thoroughly enjoyed our stay, this hotel does so many things well but we all commented on the staff- every single one from Shannon on reception to every other staff member we encountered were professional, welcoming, so fun & friendly while delivering top quality service. We tell everyone about Reddans now - what a great place to stay.

Visited on the 05/02/2022, ordered chicken penne vodka, I wouldn’t be the type to complain but it was a struggle to eat, swimming in oil when I said to the barman he just said okay and took it away and got charged full price regardless

Spent one night at Reddans B&B. On arrival the main entrance is closed & access is through car park which is a shame as the little terrace at the front is nice. Check in was quick & we were shown the bar & restaurant areas (which were empty) Our room was old fashioned & like a step back in time but it was very clean & the room quite spacious with a view over the beach which was lovely as the weather was on our side. We ate lunch in the restaurant & had a little chat with yeh floor manager(from Prague) nice friendly guy. Lunch was ok - prawn oil oil & a salad. We walked down to the beach (also empty bar a few dog walkers) we sat for a few hours there & enjoyed the good weather. Funtaisiq fun indoor centre is closed down but instead replaced with an adult only ******. The local Centra (local shop) has recently been destroyed by a fire also effecting the post office & local chip shop. With little other option, we had dinner in Reddans, which was fine. Fish & chips - Burger. Whilst chatting to the staff - we discovered the B&B is used to home Ukrainian’s via government grant(over 50% of the rooms are allocated to those affected) Whilst it’s great they have warm, safe accommodation - it’s such a shame to see a seaside town so desperate & empty when once it was filled with families & making memories with their children. Next morning - we had breakfast with was served to our table but was quite underwhelming & over cooked. We decided to take the bus to Drogheda which was a lovely bus trip (approx 30mins) (€1.90 each) & spent the day there before returning to collect our bags for our train ( from Laytown) home. It’s difficult to really rate the B&B. It’s hard to be a paying guest when so many rooms are homes. It lacks atmosphere & I hope the government can inject some funds into Bettystown to restore the area before another business goes bust.

ZIMMER: Große Zimmer, jedoch vieles veraltet! Uraltes Bügeleisen, alter Föhn der sehr heiß wurde, Lüftung im WC/Dusche funktionierte nicht, Fenster lassen sich nur einen winzigen Spalt öffnen - keine Klimaanlage! Unsere Zimmernachbarn stellten eine Wasserflasche in die Tür, damit durch den Durchzug wenigsten ein wenig Luft ins Zimmer gelangte! BAD/WC: Große Wanne mit Dusch-Kombi. Shampoo im Spender. Keine Pflegeprodukte - wie auf der Buchungsseite angekündigt. Kein Conditioner keine Lotion. Lüftung funktionierte nicht, Föhn alt und bereits geflickt. ESSEN: Das Frühstück war das beste Full Irisch Breakfast unserer Reise! Das Essen im Restaurant ist gut! Bedienung etwas langsam. Alles dauert länger obwohl genug Personal vorhanden. Wartezeit auf das Frühstück rund 35 Minuten, obwohl nur 6 Leute im Lokal. Einmal wurde die Getränke Bestellung aufgenommen und dann vergessen. So kam nach 40 Minuten das Essen und die Getränke erst später. Luft nach oben! PUB: Wie eine Sportsbar mit TV wie überall in Irland zu finden. Viel einheimisches Publikum. Ganz OK aber es gibt schönere. Viel Live Musik vor Ort! LAGE: Sehr gut direkt am wunderschönen Strand von Bettystown. ABER... es gibt keinen direkten Strandzugang vom Hotel aus - man mus umständlich außen rum laufen um diesen zu erreichen. Das Hotel schottet sich durch einen Zaun komplett ab. Will man dadurch den Sand vom Strand draußen halten? Klappt auch nicht, was die sandigen Spuren im Treppenhaus belegen. Verbesserungswürdig. FAZIT: + Top Lage, tolles Frühstück, nettes Personal. - Keine Klimaanlage, Fenster nicht zu öffnen, kein Strandzugang.
