The Xara Palace Relais & Chateaux

Este hotel está localizado nos edifícios históricos de Mdina. Há um restaurante dentro do hotel, mas também há muitos lugares para comer nas proximidades, o que é muito conveniente. O quarto era do tipo maisonette e era agradável.

Um pequeno e encantador hotel numa localização histórica bonita e única em Mdina, no centro da ilha. A equipe foi adorável e prestativa. Nosso quarto tinha um quarto de ótimo tamanho, levando a uma suíte com banheiro. Havia uma escada que levava a um mezanino com sofá e uma varanda com banheira de hidromassagem de onde desfrutávamos de vistas espetaculares da ilha. A porta da varanda era baixa, mas não era um problema. O café da manhã era abundante, com lençóis imaculados e funcionários simpáticos. O restaurante trattoria estava fechado durante a nossa visita e não jantamos no restaurante com estrela Michelin (exceto café da manhã). Existem alguns restaurantes altamente conceituados nas proximidades de Rabat, a uma curta caminhada de distância, que gostamos muito de visitar. No geral, este é um hotel elegante e tranquilo e ficamos satisfeitos por termos decidido ficar. Valletta e outros pontos costeiros são facilmente acessíveis de ônibus ou táxi (Uber /Bolt também operam).

Fiz o check-in no dia 22 de janeiro para comemorar meu 50º aniversário. Foi um aniversário marcante no dia 23 e fiquei deslumbrado ao receber um lindo desejo de aniversário no café da manhã, logo na manhã do dia 23, enquanto estávamos sentados no De Mondion. Fiquei impressionado com o cuidado e atenção além do café da manhã incrível. Os quartos eram elegantes e decorados com bom gosto e toda a propriedade exalava um charme maltês muito majestoso. Gostei de nossos passeios por MDina e das vistas no final da noite e no início da manhã, quando não havia turistas diurnos e podíamos passear e apreciar o charme medieval de MDina. Definitivamente voltaremos.

Uma das estadias de hotel mais memoráveis! A partir do momento em que chegamos, fomos tratados como regiamente pela adorável recepcionista, Reena e sua colega noturna Affra. A vista do nosso quarto, com vista para a paisagem circundante, era espetacular. E o quarto era espaçoso, confortável e luxuoso! Guardaremos nos nossos corações o Xara Palace, um destino de férias muito especial.

In addition to being located in one of the most beautiful cities in the world and having an incredible view of the island, I have never experienced such kindness from the staff. Always attentive, ready to advise you and full of little attentions to you, It is completely impossible to be disappointed. We really can't wait to come back. Xara Palace is *thisclose* to being a perfect hotel. Our agent booked us here for the last night of our honeymoon so that we could experience Mdina at night, and it was a great choice on their part. We were immediately given complimentary prosecco and sparkling water while waiting in the beautiful lobby for staff to finish preparing the room and take our luggage up for us. The suite itself, room no. 8 - deluxe suite with panoramic view, is *nearly* flawless. The bed was comfortable, though the pillows were a bit thin and the comforter too heavy for May weather. The only complaint regarding the bedroom is the air conditioner: there is both a built-in wall control right by the front door that only allows for adjusting fan speed and temperature AND a remote control with more features; however, the system only responded to the built-in wall control and would only click on when the temperature was set to ridiculously cold values (＜15 C), which, of course, the room would never reach. Additionally, there was no need for the 5 PM turndown service, as we were only staying one night. The bathroom was also very nice - very clean, well-lit, nice soaking tub, and we appreciated the toiletry bottles not being watered-down or chained to the shower wall. We would have appreciated a double vanity, but that's a space restriction we can't ding Xara on. However, what we can ding them on, and what reduces our review of Xara Palace from five to four stars, is the fatal error of no working power outlet in the bathroom. There is a euro-plug (why not UK?) "shavers only" outlet next to the mirror that does not, in fact, receive any power - we tested this with multiple devices, including shavers, toothbrushes, the hair dryer, and our own independent power adapter that has a current indicator; no combination of devices or light switches located anywhere in the suite delivered any power to this outlet. This meant that our electric toothbrushes had to be charged in the bedroom using the outlets under the TV and I had to move the shaving mirror to the same location to use the hair dryer, which was, frankly, a ridiculous inconvenience for a hotel at this price point. Additionally, the lower toilet flush button did not work. If Xara Palace wishes to advertise itself as a five-star luxury hotel, it simply cannot afford to make such trivial and simple-to-fix bathroom errors. That all said, we thank Silvia and the Xara Palace team for providing us a wonderful end-of-honeymoon stay!

The staff we encountered were friendly and helpful and made us feel very welcome. Our room (no 9) overall was excellent, comfortable and well appointed with lots of wardrobe and drawer space. The bathroom was huge with a bath tub and a walk in shower . There was ample surface space for toiletries and a proper door. There were a couple of issues with TVs not working as they should, which was not fully resolved, but staff attempted to do so as soon as we notified them. The quality of the continental (included) breakfast however was disappointing. The fruit platter was small and got smaller each day with less and less variety. The yogurts were basic supermarket-standard and not befitting the expected quality of a prestigious hotel. We did not allow this to ruin what was a lovely stay. If you have the chance to visit this hotel I would recommend you do so.
