While its position on an island is exotic, it is a bit of a challenge to get to. It requires taking a short ferry ride across the harbor and then walking about two blocks (on cobblestone walks) to the hotel. If you have a lot of luggage, try to get the hotel to meet you to pick up luggage from the ferry. The hotel is beautifully situated on a bluff overlooking the harbor from a block away. We had a beautiful room looking out that direction over a wedding and a park between the hotel and the harbor. We had to carry luggage up to our room on narrow stairs, with some help from the front-desk attendant. We enjoyed the ambiance of this old gem, including dinner in a tightly filled room. Despite a mix-up of times, we were accommodated and enjoyed a scrumptious meal with regional wine. Breakfast was a modest buffet of mostly cold items and was included. We recommend not making this an overnight hotel as the time and out reduces your opportunity to enjoy the island. We also had the fortune of seeing the 3rd day of an America's Cup race for certain classes of historic racers.
