Where to start? I love Marrakech anyway, but now I love it even more 🙂 Riad Anais is a welcoming, peaceful, stylish, calm and very comfortable home from home from which to enjoy your stay in the Red City.... From the moment I arrived I felt 100% confident that I had made the right choice of accommodation! Welcomed by Simo and Aziza instantly, I shared breakfast with a couple who I'd only just met, but felt completely accepted by - freshly made pancakes, msemen (made by Aziza) and bread washed down with fresh, sweet coffee and perfectly ripe melon.... I was shown to my beautiful and very clean room and then to the terrace. It's all about the roof space in Marrakech and this terrace is superbly kept with freshly watered flowers, the sound of the medina below and the sound of red sparrows and wood pigeons twittering. The service here was seamless and very thoughtful, every need was anticipated before I even knew I needed it! Bottles of water, freshly squeezed orange juice, coffee, tea, tiny pastries in the afternoon... I ate 3 evenings in the riad and enjoyed every bit of each meal. If I had to choose my favourite things I'd say the aubergine dish (I could have eaten 3 dishes of it...), the green soup, the beef tagine, the caramelised pear (unbelievably good!) and the afore mentioned msemen. As a Muslim woman travelling alone I felt extremely well looked after. I was loaned a prayer mat without having to ask, I felt as though I was considered when sharing the terrace with other guests who were enjoying wine with their meal as well. Simo balances the needs of all guests very skilfully. I enjoyed the location of the riad - obviously I got lost - and as always happens in Marrakech just as you're leaving you start to feel more confident moving around the medina! Thanks Simo for helping me find my way. The highlights of my stay were also brought about by the staff at Riad Anais. I wanted to visit the tombs of the Seven Men of Marrakech but none of the guides were interested in doing the tour, each one said no. But Simo went the extra mile and found me the perfect guide, which I will remember as one of the best experiences of my life 😄 Finally, let's talk about the freshly baked chocolate cake and coffee which was brought to my room the night before I left for home. It was meant for for me to take on my journey. Iay or may not have eaten it there and then though because it was so good! InshaAllah I will be back, maybe with friends or family next time. Thank you Simo and Aziza for a truly relaxing and memorable stay.
