I stayed in this Riad for the first two weeks of March. When I arrived I was greeted by the hosts, Yasmine and Amina. They walked me through a tour and orientation. The inside of the Riad is both modern and traditional Moroccan. The lounge area has a very warm and friendly atmosphere with comfortable sofa and chairs. There is a very nice fireplace and a big screen TV. A pool outside is a great place to relax and get some sun. You feel isolated from the noise and hustle and bustle of busy Marrakech. I was shown to my room, which is decorated in antique Moroccan style. The comfortable beds are a highlight. After spending days walking in the Madina and sight seeing it was nice to come back to such a comfortable room and bed. The famous Marrakech Madina is only about a five or ten minute walk. From this Riad you can be an early riser and on the go or just relax in the morning. Aicha brings you a nice Moroccan breakfast. She is a big reason I will return. Such a hard worker yet the most pleasant and happy person you will ever meet. And, and excellent cook. She bends over backward to make sure you have the best service. Yasmine and Amina, your hosts make you feel immediately at home. I was always treated like a VIP but by the time I left I felt like family. If you are not familiar with Marrakech or the surrounding area, they will arrange transportation when you need it and give you advice on what sights to see and what your want to do while you are in Marrakech. I made several side trips. Essaouira, a beautiful city on the ocean about two and a half hours from Marrakech. I also visited Ouzoud Waterfalls again about two and a half hours by car. And Oukaimeden, a village at about 2800 meter (9000 feet) in the Atlas Mountains. By the way you can see the Atlas Mountain on a clear day from the Riad or from a balloon ride. Spectacular. There are so many thing to do in Marrakech and places nearby, I felt like I could have stayed for a month and not seen them all. The Riad Al Walidine is a great place to stay for a few days or a few weeks. It’s centralized and the entire staff is what you would want from the friendly Moroccan people. Yasmine speaks Arabic, French and English perfectly, which makes communications so easy. I would like to give a special thanks to Yasmine for taking such good care of me. This was true for all the guests. Amina for how well everything runs and her warm friendly smile and attention to the guests. Finally, Aicha. She is a great cook and seems to know what you want and how to prepare it. Her chef skills are as good as any I’ve seen. She is also one of the most pleasant people I’ve found in my many travels. By the time I left after two weeks, which seemed like only days, I felt like family. I will miss my new Moroccan family. Thanks for everything.
