We had a reasonably pleasant stay at Parador de Manzanares. It is conveniently situated not far from the motorway. There is covered car parking nearby but unfortunately no allocated disabled spaces. The Reception staff are welcoming and friendly. Our room was spacious and comfortable. We had a disabled bathroom with easy access to a shower. Tea/coffee making facilities in the room would have been good. There is a convenient bar/cafe nearby. The staff here were kindly and helpful. Dinner was disappointing with little gluten free items on offer. The restaurant staff seemed hard pressed and not particularly helpful. It is perhaps understaffed. We shared an acceptable smoked tuna salad as a starter. Salt and pepper have to be requested and arrive in small packets, as given during Covid. Bottles of olive oil and vinegar plus lots of different packets of sugar are ALWAYS found on the table but NEVER salt and pepper mills. Why is this? The main course we had was a supposed beef tenderloin and potatoes. It was tastless and of poor quality without any dressing but excessive salt. It was overcooked and practically inedible. Some other vegetable with it would have been nice. The waitress was advised that it was not good but she seemed uninterested as usual. The dessert taken was a very pleasant surprise. It was a gluten free almond cheesecake that we suspect the chef was not responsible for. The Maitre d' was not very visible nor attentive and had to be requested to bring some wine. Breakfast was acceptable with a good selection. The freshly cooked eggs were speedily delivered but were excessively greasy. This is quite a pleasant Parador that would benefit from improvements in the kitchen (i.e. a proper chef!) and a well staffed and managed dining room.
