Quite possibly the most stunning view from any hotel room we’ve ever stayed in. We spent 2 days here as our initial destination on a trip around Montenegro and it was a wonderful first stop. Their website really doesn’t so them justice. The drive from Dubrovnik airport to Hotel Sokoline took approximately 4 hours but the end result was more than worth it. We used Google maps to navigate our way and it took us via the M6 and E762 and then onto a local road, but if you have the choice don ‘t approach the hotel from the north come from the south along the New Road from Danilovgrad. The road from the north is not for the faint hearted – being a mass of hairpin bends with no barriers between you, your car and the (stunning) thousand foot drop on your right. The road is just about wide enough for two cars but not necessarily their wing mirrors. Unless you’ve packed extra pants approach from the south! We stayed in Room 8. It was well kept, clean and comfortable. It had its own private balcony and the view, as we said was stunning (see photos). Towels, toiletries and bottled water were provided as would be expected. Good car parking. Lower Ostrog monastery is 10 minutes down the road – free parking. We wouldn't recommend driving up to the higher monastery, walk it if you want to go there – it can be a busy road, especially given its size. The place does seems to be quieter in the afternoon. The hotel is extremely remote – which is what we wanted. There is nowhere else to eat unless you want to drive for 15 – 20 mins. However, the food at the hotel was good and reasonably priced - <10 euros for a main course and good friendly service. The staff were really lovely, very thoughtful and helpful. English was not a strength, but they tried and we found a way through ! If we get the opportunity, we’ll be back... approaching from the south or wearing parachutes!
