Having stayed at several Premier Inn's; I think this is the worst. I arrived at the hotel at 2.15pm for a 3pm check in and was told the room was not ready. I drank an expensive warm lager and tried to check in again at 2.45pm. I was told the room was still not ready but would be at 3pm. The self service check in screens were at this point, 'oops not working.' By 3pm queues had formed, but the screens were now working. On asking one staff member for help checking in by this method, he seemed put out and said nothing whilst rushing through the process. This lack of communication and unfriendliness was symptomatic of not just individuals; but all staff. Whilst the room looked dated and not the biggest, it was clean. Returning to the hotel following a concert, I initially sat in the 'social' area. This actually reminded me of the student area in a university common room. I noticed people queuing 8 deep for a drink, but there was only one server performing a slow service. Breakfast was of poor quality and not of the usual standard. Sausages and fried eggs were overcooked, scrambled eggs watery, and fried tomatoes black at the edges. Food containers were left empty, as were the juice dispensers and coffee machines. On its website, the hotel states that car parking across the road is £13 for 24 hours. However, having validated the ticket in reception, the normal rate of £18 was applied at the parking machine. I chose this hotel for its locality to Piccadilly train station. However, having stayed at Premier Inn (Printworks) several times for its locality to Victoria station, it is far superior to this hotel.
