We just had our Thanksgiving Family Reunion of 32 members at the Battenkill Mansion. We have had this large family Thanksgiving reunion every other year and this was the 6th time we have used the Battenkill Mansion since 2009. Our family dynamics changed through the years to the present composition of 17 grandkids ages 4 to 23, and this year there was an overwhelming feeling from the participants that this was our best reunion ever. We were skeptical about getting the college students to join in this year, but they were very enthusiastic about it since there was so much bonding amongst the cousins. Using the multifunctional room was great for many things, including the large Thanksgiving dinner, competitive ping pong games, yoga classes, and other group games that required a big open space. We also found plenty of logs in the woods for getting the group together for fun times around a fire pit. An extra bonus was the nearby Dana Thompson Rec Park with large fields for soccer and baseball, multiple courts for pickleball, tennis and basketball, and an adjacent building that had restrooms attached with outside entrances. We witnessed many improvements to the Mansion over the years. It’s spacious rooms and its large outdoor areas allowed for many interactive group activities. We greatly appreciated the generous help of our host, Melissa, prior to and throughout our 4-day reunion.
