Shawa Luangwa Camp

What an amazing place to stay!! The hospitality and food were exceptionally. All the staff were so friendly. Our tented room was gorgeous, really amazing with a wonderful view. The wildlife was great- our game drives were incredible!! Special thanks to our guide Jack Sparrow, His way to tell stories about the wildlife is splendid. I highly recommend Shawa and I can't wait to return.

We were able to spend 5 incredible days here (in September 2023) , the camp is such a beautiful, extraordinary and special place. We enjoyed our time in the spacious and luxurious tent and its veranda and views very much. The hospitality, food, contact with everybody was so wonderful and impressive, the many talks we had, the insights into Sambia, life and of course the National Park and its animals- this was an outstanding experience for us, which we will never forget. The daily routine was also great and very well structured (weak up coffee in the tent, breakfast at the river, morning drive, lunch, afternoon break, tea/coffee, afternoon drive, dinner, campfire… of course also some additional specials…) In the lunch break and evenings we could observe elephants and hippos grasing through the camp, an indescribable wonderful experience (especially out of the bathtub 😉 ). Also we want to mention and give a great Thank You to our wonderful, experienced and attentive safari guide Jack Sparrow, who showed us the National Park in all its diversity and detail. He is a great pathfinder and knows the National Park so well and is very well connected with his colleagues - so that we had lots (!) of spectacular and amazing sightings. His knowledge of flora and fauna, its relationships, places, his explanations, the stories about life here gave us a whole new experience of this precious National Park and Sambia itself. We dream of coming back and can only recommend to come here and visit the camp and NP yourself! Thank you very much!

Had the most amazing safari while staying at the Shawa camp. From the welcome dance to the bespoke menu to the knowledgeable guides, we had the most intimate experience in the wild. True to their name, everything about the camp is Green, including the vehicles that are battery powered.

What a tremendous experince this was. We had fantastic game drives, spectacular lunch site, nice dinner settings, lovely service by everybody from the whole team, great ecofriendly lodge, ... everything was 200 % OK. Best of all: ask for Jack Sparrow as your personnal guide. He is a top Zambian safari game drive expert.

A fantastic stay , great location, wonderful staff and the game drives were superb. A special thank you to James, our guide for 3 days , both jeep and walking safari - you can see his true passion of the bush , thank god he gave up a career in accountancy :)! The accommodation is on the smaller side but fine and you have an outside seating area and shower. Food and drink excellent, thank you for a wonderful 3 days.

We were warmly welcomed by the Shawa Luangwa Camp team with music and dance which was super! The accommodation is luxurious, the tents open up almost entirely with incredible views of the Luangwa. we really appreciated how attentive and helpful everyone was, saying goodbye was bittersweet after our short but amazing stay.
