Tidal Bore Inn

Check-in was easy...staff was very friendly...room was very spacious and extremely clean.....had a great sleep on a comfy bed...large lawn with a view of the Tidal Bore (though I wasn't there in time to see it!). Definitely will stay again.

Airport hotels were charging a fortune so I decided I’d try this motel which was less than half the price of airport hotels and only 40 mins away. I was pleased I did, we got a very clean, comfortable room with a friendly welcome. It was quiet with all of Truro’s amenities close by. I won’t be paying a fortune for a basic soulless airport hotel room ever again.

Owners for helpful and friendly; no problem there. Hotel was dated but we could handle that. Unfortunately other guests did not adhere to quiet time after eleven and were noisy and disrespectful ALL night. We were scheduled for two nights but only stayed for one. So tired and disappointed Not owners fault but they live so close we couldn’t believe they didn’t know what was happening

I really liked this property... it had an 80's feel to it. It was a bit run down, but the staff was awesome and the room was amazingly clean. I give it a 9 out of 10.

Very friendly owners, easy access location close to everything I needed. A basic room but serviced its purpose. Clean and well kept. Wish I had a chance to use the bikes available but was here on a work trip and didn’t get the chance.

Excellent service and friendly staff ..rooms are clean and well kept ..view of the tidal bore and located on a high and quiet ..have stayed here every summer for 25 plus years ..recommend as a place to stay

Heater was rusty caulking around tub old and some dark spots in bathroom could be start of mold

A friend booked a block of rooms for a group of couples. We were going to a concert at River Breeze Farm about 5-kms from the hotel. We are all middle aged and not exactly part animals. When we checked in at 2.00pm Bill the owner, manager not sure which, seemed annoyed we were an hour early and read us the riot act. Took a $200 "security deposit" from our friends card and rather resentfully gave us our room keys. We were told that any noise or smoking near the rooms after 10.00pm would result in an extra charge. We thought nothing of it since we are a respectful group who go to many events around the maritimes and have yet to cause any issues at all. We left in a cab for the show around 3.30pm and had an excellent evening. The show was over by 11.00pm and we found a cab back to our hotel. We were all in bed and asleep before midnight. The following morning we got up, showered and packed up to leave. We all went our separate ways from here. Around 4.30pm the same day I got a call from "Bill" again and he very rudely asked if I had had a problem with the globe in our room. I asked what he meant by "globe" and he explained there was a light fixture in the bathroom with a spherical glass cover and that it was missing. I asked if he had the right room number to which he got more aggressive. I told him I saw no "globe" nor did I believe there had been one in the room when we checked in. He snorted and said something along the lines of "yeah right" and hung up. I spoke with the friend who booked the rooms later when we got home and said had he seen any unusual charges on his card because of the call, he said he had been charged $57.50 on his Visa, the charge had been posted the previous evening?!?! He wasn't sure what for so he has started an investigation. One of our friends had spoken with a man who was a long term resident at the motel and he told us the owner has a habit of charging guests bad faith charges for made up infractions. Will see how this all unfolds but would strongly recommend giving this place a very wide berth.

We recently stayed at The Tidal Bore Inn in Truro Nova Scotia, and am sorry that I feel the need to write this review, but we had a terrible experience there. It will be long. When we checked in, Lisa at the office was great. Very nice person, and we chatted for quite a while. We initially thought it was a nice location, overlooking grass and a bit away from traffic. However, the room itself was not in good shape at all. The beds in the room were terrible. The mattresses were very old, uncomfortable and squeaked terribly every time we moved.....very loud. The toilet needed flushing two to three times every time used, the blow dryer did not work, ( yes we tried the reset button numerous times...simply did not work ) there is no in room coffee, ( which you would expect at this price ) but even worse was the fact that a work crew was staying at the motel, and were out in the parking lot right next to our room between midnight and about 2 in the morning making so much noise talking loudly and going up and down the outside stairs, it was impossible to sleep. Then at 5:30am, they were out there again leaving for work, and the same level of noise. Was awful, we barely slept all night. We wanted to complain to the office when we checked out, as there is no one in the office all night, but the office did not open til 10:00am and we left at 9:00. So I called later as we were travelling, and I got a gentleman on the phone, perhaps Lisas husband, and told him what happened. He argued with me about pretty much everything, then said they had other complaints about the work crew prior, and that they tried to get them out but could not, and they will never have them stay again. He kept saying there was nothing he could do about my complaints. Firstly, they could have told us about the work crew when we checked in, especially as they had other complaints, so we could have chosen not to stay there. But they did not. Well, we paid $154.00 plus tax for that night, which for what we experienced was appalling. He did not offer at all to discount even a portion of what we paid, nor did he apologize to me. We travel quite a bit, and after this experience, I would not ever recommend for anyone to stay at this motel.
