The event organisers had been working with staff for several months, trying to sort the conference room and catering. Attendees were all required to submit dietary requirements, to inform the morning and afternoon tea to be provided on both days of the event. Within the last 10 days before the event, staff suddenly advised that they were not able to provide the catering previously agreed upon. Instead of the promised sweet and savoury options for morning and afternoon tea - after being informed of dietary requirements - they then then changed the offering to a sweet morning tea only, with absolutely no attempt at meeting any of the communicated dietary requirements. That left a lot of attendees not able to eat the small offering, and somehow find extra money to eat off-site. As well as not providing the agreed options, they also communicated that we could not bring food from off-site to eat, in place of the very limited catered option. In addition to this, there was an agreement made about a dinner, and three options were provided by the staff. The organisers provided numbers and preferences for this in advance, according to the agreed price. Again, Angus Inn staff tried to make last minute changes, and tried to add on a service charge, which had not been communicated earlier. This was on the day the dinner was to be provided, giving little or no option for attendees to find an alternative. The dinner option was already expensive for what was provided, without the extra fee. The conference room itself was small for the advertised capacity, and was loud, due to the lack of sound buffering in the room. When a member of the public began smashing windows outside the conference room, one of the event attendees informed a staff member. They called the police, and let us all know when that had been done. There was no follow up to check on the well being of attendees, or any attempt made to inform us of the resolution of the issue.
