My wife and I booked Hotel Bastide for 4 nights for a wedding weekend. Our experience was terrible. Room cleanliness: -10/10 Customer respect: 0/10 Reasons from most significant to least: 1. There were a few oblong flies in the room. Not a big deal, I killed them. Then I noticed a few more in the bathroom. Then I complained. The front desk said “the cleaning team leaves the door open and they fly in, after you kill them you should be fine”. I then saw a baby fly on the bed, and found another on the curtains, and I went searching for more in the room. There was an infestation on the outside of the room, and they were freely crawling under the closed sliding glass door (see photo) 2. The safe was literally broken. The door was hanging off the hinges. Before discovering the infestation, I went to the front desk to complain about this, and he said “we have lots of problems with safes here”. OK… (see attached photo) 3. The bathroom sink is “in” the shower, so you need to walk on the shower floor to get there. It was still wet when we walked in the room, and had a scent of mildew. (See attached photo) 4. There was dust all inside the closet and the closet doors which grosses out my wife more than me, but is an indication of their attention to detail in cleaning the room (see attached photo and #3 above) After the source of the bugs was identified (and unsolvable) we asked to move rooms. They were fully booked. At that point, we had no choice but to make a reservation with a different hotel. After the front desk team member saw the source of the bugs, he assured us that he thought the owner would be reasonable and accept our request for a refund. We booked with Chase and until now (~3 weeks later) the owner has not be responsive to their queries. Obviously, I don’t recommend.
