Gainsborough Hotel

Kensington London|0.21km de Natural History Museum
My office booked a room, most probably, through Expedia. The voucher generated thusly was handed to me by my office travel agent mentioned a single room with a twin bed. Upon check-in, I got half a room under the staircase with a half bed (even kids have bigger bed than that) that was made of cheap compressed wood, the stuff Ikea puts in its flatpack. The cupboard wobbled as one opened the door and there was barely space to move. The lift to the floor did not generate the impression, it would get you there safely. The bathroom sink could not be used because it was so slim, it barely jutted out of the wall. Hair on the towels and bed were included free in my room. The hotel is apparently refurbished and yet has stained carpets, as well as, mysterious stains on the bed, table, etc. The breakfast in their partner hotel located just across is not worth booking - the food choice is pedestrian and you can get quality breakfast well within the price at any food place in London. When I called the receptionist (Stefanie/Stephanie) today (24.06.2022 at 14:44), i.e. one day after checking out to find out why this discrepancy between my office booking and the offered room happened, she started screaming at me and said, I was speaking nonsense. After quite a few rounds of try to gently speak to her, I gave up and asked for her manager. She said Manager is not here and kept on shouting. I hung up, not able to believe that this is the behaviour of a travel and hospitality industry rep. Wow!

54 Queen's Gate Hotel

Kensington London|0.22km de Natural History Museum
I travelled with my daughter to London all the way from New Zealand for a combined work and holiday trip. It was her first time in London, and I wanted this trip to be something she would remember. I spent a lot of time looking for a good hotel in Kensington and I picked 54 Queens Gate, due to its convenient location for my conference and the good reviews and high rating in Tripadvisor and Booking.com. On the positives, I will list the extremely good and convenient location, the tasteful décor in the lounge and rooms and some of the staff, being polite and helpful. Otherwise, our stay did not confirm the high ratings for this hotel, which create high expectations, unfortunately not met. I had booked a ”double deluxe” room, which came at a price higher than the standard. Initially, we were given a tiny room on one of the upper floors (Room 20) for which you had to go up two different lifts and a few stairs. The room was not what was shown in the photos as a double deluxe (although they tried to tell me that it was in this category). It was also very hot, and the air conditioning was not working properly and was too noisy. It was impossible to stay there for 6 nights, so we immediately said we were disappointed. Luckily, they had a bigger room available in the lower ground floor (basement?), Room 2, which we happily took. The room was relatively clean, but the floor was not, and I had to specifically ask them to vacuum the floor. Later we discovered that a terrible sewer smell was coming from the drains, and the ventilation in the bathroom was not enough to improve the situation, luckily there was a patio door we could open for airing the room. The toiletries offered, although good quality, they were in very limited quantity, hardly enough for one person. Some of the staff were stressed, unaccommodating and grumpy. Breakfast was basic. After the second day we decided to have breakfast in the room, and we were served by an annoyed lady who seemed to hate us for ordering in the room (although this is advertised in the services, also note they don’t serve cooked breakfast in the rooms). On the last night, I made the mistake to ask reception to book a taxi for me. They told me to book an uber, and when I said that I don’t have an uber account, the person at the reception said they would have to ask their manager in order to book a taxi for me. On our check out they asked us how our stay was. I gave them honest and direct feedback, on which the manager responded aggressively, trying to blame everything on us (e.g., for asking for a taxi). They said no one else had complained about the smell from the sewers before, while I read similar reports from other customers on Booking.com and tried to blame us, for not reporting it earlier, supposedly they would have fixed it. I expect that they will try to respond in a similar manner to my review. I advise the traveler to take my review seriously and either lower their expectations or make an alternative choice f

My family and I came to a Europe for a vacation that started in London. Since the minute we entered the whole staff was super nice, professional, and very helpful. Anything we asked for was taken very seriously and they provided us with everything we need and more. This feels like a home. In the morning, Elana and Loulou were very welcoming and made us feel like we were home. The food was amazing and they always came to check on us to see if we needed more things. They also suggested great places to visit around the area. The manager was a very nice lady. She came to us and greeted us very nicely the minute we came. I highly recommend this place to everyone. Besides having clean rooms, and great breakfast it is located in a very nice area. You can walk around and have everything around you. Again thank you Elana and Loulou!!

The advantage is that it is close to the subway station and basically across the road from the station. The room is small and it is acceptable considering the location. But the facilities are average, the hair dryer is bad, the bottle of bath liquid cannot be opened, I have to run two times at the front desk to deal with this. When I left, the front desk asked me if I wanted to give a tip for 9.8 pounds. The first time I was tipped by the front desk of the hotel, I was embarrassed and gave it in person. But I was very uncomfortable, because the room rate should include service, why tip? I used to stay in the store, and I tipped the bellman at most, never asked for it at the front desk. I also repeatedly charged the room fee and found it by me. They said that they did not receive the room fee given by the platform. How can I have my check-in information if I don't receive the room fee? Fortunately, after contacting Trip.com, Trip.com refunded me the prepaid room rate. But everyone must be careful.

We had some nice days in London to descover the Town, the museums and of course Warner Brothers. Hotel and service had been excellent, the place near the underground with the important lines was perfect.
130 Queen's Gate Apartments

I recently had the opportunity to stay at the 130 Queensgate Apartment during my visit to the area, and overall, it was a pleasant experience. The apartment itself was well-maintained, comfortable, and offered a convenient location for exploring the city. However, there was an unfortunate incident regarding a missing item that impacted my overall satisfaction. Let's start with the positive aspects. The apartment was beautifully furnished, with tasteful decor and ample space. The living area was cozy, and the kitchen was well-equipped with modern appliances, making it easy to prepare meals. The bedroom was comfortable, and the bathroom was clean and stocked with fresh towels. Additionally, the complimentary Wi-Fi was fast and reliable, which was crucial for my work needs. The location of 130 Queensgate Apartment was fantastic. It was situated in a vibrant neighborhood, with easy access to public transportation and a variety of shops, restaurants, and attractions. Exploring the city was convenient, as many popular destinations were within walking distance or a short commute away. Now, onto the unfortunate incident. During my stay, I noticed that my Apple Watch had gone missing from the apartment. I immediately reported the issue to the management, who assured me that they would investigate the matter. While they were responsive and sympathetic, it was a disappointment to have such an incident occur. I cannot definitively conclude that the housekeepers were involved, as it could have been misplaced or lost elsewhere, but it did leave a bitter taste in an otherwise enjoyable stay. I also wish they were more clean, there was dirt all over the windows, underneath sofas, inside the wardrobe! It is important to note that incidents like these are rare and may not reflect the overall professionalism and integrity of the apartment's staff. Nevertheless, I would advise future guests to take extra precautions with their valuables and consider using the provided safe or securing belongings in locked luggage. Despite the unfortunate incident, I would still recommend 130 Queensgate Apartment for its comfortable accommodations, convenient location, and responsive management. Just exercise caution and remain vigilant regarding the security of your personal belongings.
