I stayed in 1 Lexham Gardens Hotel in Kensington mid November 2023 with my mother. We had booked a twin room to stay in from 14 November, checking out 17 November. On arrival, there was nobody at reception, so we checked in using the machine. We then went to our room, which was majorly below average. I have never complained about a hotel in my life, but this hotel room was really not fit for purpose and not nice at all. The room was dirty, marks on the walls, the bathroom door completely chipped to pieces, a strong stench of drains coming from the toilet every time you washed your hands, no mirrors in the room, so nowhere to plug in hair straightener and do hair, (I had to use my phone camera to try and do my hair), a small mirror in the bathroom only, the shower was dirty, the tv was hanging off the wall, scruffy looking cushions left on the bed, there was no plug socket anywhere near the kettle, my mum had to move the kettle to the bed side table and plug it in there, with insufficient space on the bedside table, which is a clear safety hazard. The room resembled a prison cell. Despite all of this, we agreed that we would only be using the room to get ready and to sleep, so we would put up with it and wouldn't complain. We arrived back to the hotel on Tuesday evening after a long day of travelling and a dinner in London City, and got into bed for approx 11pm. We both brought ear plugs and put them in our ears, but there was earsplitting, pounding noise coming from the back garden of the hotel, directly below our window. There was a party, with blaring music, with loads of people shouting and laughing until we finally got to sleep at 4.30am. My mum had a look online and it seemed to be a party coming from The Secret Garden Lounge, which is quite obviously another business owned by the hotel. As unacceptable as it is to run a hotel business with that going on to the extent that people cant sleep, it is even more despicable, that the people who run this hotel, also use their premises to make as much money as possible and host blaring parties on a Tuesday night, with such disregard for their hotel guests. My mother is in her 60s and the very least this hotel could provide for us would be a decent nights sleep, considering how much this hotel is charging and the poor quality and cleanliness of the rooms. On Wednesday morning, we approached the lady on reception and told her we wanted to check out. I explained the situation and confirmed that we were happy to pay for the first night but would like a refund for the Wednesday and Thursday night, as the room was not fit for purpose at all as we couldn't even sleep. The lady seemed to pretend to be surprised (I say pretend because I have absolutely no doubt that others would have complained about the noise and lack of sleep as the noise was earsplitting), she told us there was nothing she could do and I would need to get onto to ***********, who I could get a refund from. We left and went to the K Hotel
