Four Oaks Hotel

Went with a group of friends on a Turkey and Tinsel 5 day break. The food and service was excellent and I was particularly impressed that there were 2 options for vegetarians on the menu as usually there is no choice. The rooms were warm and comfortable and the hotel was beautifully decorated for the Christmas season.

The twin bedroom was basic but very comfortable with everything you need for a short stay. However, there was mould on the wall above the TV. The bathroom and shower were not good at all. There was black around the base of the shower tray and the skirting board was covered with dirt. The shower had a plastic curtain which stuck to you once wet and we had trouble getting the toilet to flush properly. The meals were basic but acceptable. The majority of the staff were lovely but there was one who would have done exceedingly well being employed in Fawlty Towers. I don't think I'll go there again 😭

We recently spent 4 nights at Four Oaks with a coach party. I have been greatly surprised to read the glowing 'excellent' reviews here on Tripadvisor. On the plus side it is very well appointed on the promenade at Llandudno and is attractive from the outside with well kept gardens. Meal times were a little regimented but staff were very efficient with a pleasant manner. Food was 'good' on the whole though not excellent, with variety and quantity was sufficient. So why only 2 marks - the quality of the rooms, It's supposed to have been refurbished but I think that was just a lick of paint in some areas. Furnishings are very basic and decor unimaginative. Pillows very thin. There were no bedside lights so we had to get out of bed to turn off each night. There was an evident crack in the wash basin. The shower was the icing on the cake - the shower screen did not meet with a gap of some inches, therefore we had to squash in the rear corner to shower to avoid flooding the floor outside. We needn't have bothered though because there was already a leak from the base of the shower tray. We reported this the next morning and it appeared to be duly noted in a book but nothing was done during our stay. We left on a Friday. I suspect that a member of the next incoming party was allocated that same room without any maintenance being done when in fact the room should have bene taken out of action. Other members of our party were similarly dissatisfied with their rooms.
