Hotel Rex

Amazing hotel room the like of which we have not experienced before. Two bedrooms and two bathrooms with kitchen/dining area and balcony. Clean and well-serviced room. So why only a score of three? The hotel is located out of the town and there is very little in the vicinity by way of restaurants and bars. The hotel restaurant menu is very limited and breakfast is basic, self-service. We encountered a very unfriendly member of staff at the hotel’s beach cafe who was chatty and helpful to Italian guests, but ignored English guests and could not have been more unhelpful if she tried. The menu at the cafe was limited and the “beach” area is a large concrete platform on which umbrellas and sun beds can be found. The sea was wonderfully clear but the “beach” was non-existent.

Unfortunately the beautiful views, lovely reception staff, and stylish room were all ruined by the club music going on on the beach until midnight. My room was shaking with the bass. The reception staff tried to get the restaurant to turn down the music but they refused. I am writing this review from the bathroom where I have spent the last 3 hours so I don’t have to listen to the terrible loud club music in my room. Luckily my 1 year old baby is sleeping through it somehow!

We stayed at Hotel Rex between 19-21 September with my friend as we wanted to reward ourselves with a quick little holiday. Upon our late evening arrival to the hotel we were greeted with a warm welcome by the receptionist. I couldn't wait to get our key cards as I needed to go to the bathroom only to find that the toilet was not only not cleaned for our arrival but the cleaner has left a little 'gift' inside of it for us that they forgot to flush. When I brought this to the receptionist's attention later she insinuated that I made this up as otherwise I would've taken a picture of it. We were in a rush to get to the hotel restaurant as the kitchen was closing soon and this was our last chance to have any kind of food in the evening and the hotel is in the middle of nowhere with nothing else open in the area. From the moment we stepped foot in the otherwise scenic and lovely looking restaurant we were treated as if we were trying to bring a deadly disease upon them. At first we tried to ignore the cold shoulders but became increasingly difficult when the servers who came to the table were incredibly rude and impatient with us from start to finish. They were unhelpful in answering our menu related questions and pretended that they didn't understand anything we said in our rusty Italian or in plain English. At that point it dawned on us that they hated us and we were being discriminated against for whatever reason. They brought us bread but no oils to dip the bread in and when I asked for olive oil, chilli oil, salt and pepper they looked at us like we were crazy. They only brought one item at a time and we ended up having to ask for each of them again. The server whom we found out later on was the manager didn't even look at us and just walked off without a word at some point. Meanwhile we saw that they were treating the other - Italian - tables with dignity and warmth. As we felt extremely uncomfortable we didn't even ask for coffee, paid the bill quickly (that was practically thrown on the table in a rude way) and went straight to reception to share our grievances. The receptionist told us she would talk to them and to our disbelief suggested that we go back with her and tell the 2 waiters off in front of her. Which is by no chance in hell how to handle complaints of such magnitude. To further inconvenience the paying customer. Needless to say nothing was done, nobody came to us after to apologise or to even mention anything about our complaints. We are not notorious hobby complainers, nor are we looking to get discounts in places we travel to. And I know this time I'm spending writing this unpleasant review I will never get back but we left disappointed, annoyed and distraught by the events that took place. And the funny thing is that we still can't figure out why we were treated this way. We were nice and polite like we always are. All this in a 4 star hotel??? You get better treatment in youth hostels!! AVOID AT ALL COSTS!!!

The room was ok but nothing special, the shower very tiny...Cleanliness of the room average as well. There is a construction going on with quite a lot of noise during the day but there is no information/warning about it. Breakfast was poor, not a 4 star standard, but staff in the breakfast room was nice. Also I have to highlight reception staff, they were very nice and helpful, everyone I met during my stay-thank you for that! Unfortunately staff in the restaurant -the one on reception level- was very disappointing, they did not speak English, not even basic... at least they could have been nice and smiley...Overall this hotel is overpriced for its quality.

Firstly most of the most the staff were very nice and trying.After having checked with a very rude and moaning receptionist, we had a nice lunch on Terrace, however very pricey for what it was! After long travels we wanted a quick swim in the sea a relax on the lounger. Being told that we need to go back to reception and pay 30 Euro, once we did this and once more wanted to sit down, we're told not those seats only those once, very unprofessional! This should have been explained at check in.!!! The breakfast next morning was awful. How can you go wrong with scrambled eggs right? Well since the buffet had hardly anything else, even this was a disaster. This hotel has nice sea views(luckily) but is far from a 4 star standard!

Il 23.10.23 abbiamo effettuato una prenotazione presso questo hotel per la notte del 29.04.24. Il 22.04.24 ci hanno disdetto la prenotazione (solo dopo due telefonate siamo riusciti ad avere la disdetta per iscritto). Al mattino, secondo l'impiegata, per dei lavori di ristrutturazione da effettuare; al pomeriggio, secondo la capo ricevimento, per dei lavori gia' effettuati. Risultato: con un bambino ci ritroviamo a cercare un hotel nel maxi ponte del 25 aprile e primo maggio con un aggravio di spese non risarcito e dovendo riprogrammare spostamenti e programmi.

Ottima posizione direttamente sul mare! Dal balcone potevi ammirare Alba e tramonto. Un po’ calda la camera in quanto quando si esce non c’è nulla che mantenga la temperatura, ma tutto sopportabile dal panorama. Ottimo il servizio spiaggia, non abbiamo usufruito del ristorante ma solo della colazione e qui il personale potrebbe essere un po’ più gentile , ma anche questo è perdonato dalla vista sul mare. Quindi ci tornerei subito

Tutto bene fino a che non hanno deciso di posticipare la colazione di un ora senza avvisare, aprendo alle 8 di mattina anziché alle 7, recando disagio a tutto un gruppo di 50 persone che deve partire per lavoro, che dovrà farlo senza poter fare colazione pur avendola pagata. Neanche ad uno stello è mai successa una cosa simile. Altro che quattro stelle. Nessun tipo di professionalità
