"We stayed here while visiting my dad in ICU, so having somewhere warm and comfortable to rest was essential. Unfortunately, the heating in our room was not working. We informed staff immediately and the supervisor kindly brought an electric heater, but due to the size of the room, high ceilings and freezing weather, it made no difference and we were extremely cold all night. The following day the heating was still not working, and we also discovered the shower only provided around two minutes of hot water. By the time my mum had showered and I went in afterwards, the water was completely cold. This meant we had both a freezing room and cold showers. The supervisor contacted the owners but was told nothing could be done. We requested compensation as the accommodation failed to provide basic necessities such as heating and hot water. The only compensation offered was £30 each towards a meal, which felt completely inadequate given the circumstances. This is a real shame, because the room itself is beautiful, the supervisor and staff were genuinely excellent, and the food in the pub was lovely. Sadly, the owners seriously let this stay down and showed little concern for guest comfort or wellbeing."

"From our greeting on arrival we thoroughly enjoyed our stay. It is a lovely hotel with wonderful decor. Staff are polite and attentive. We had dinner prior to going to the theatre the food was delicious and service was excellent. Breakfast too delicious. Would definitely recommend and we will certainly check out other hotels in the chain."
