This is a "traveler be forwarned" review. I was looking for lodging during my stay in Hawaii this coming November and I saw what looked like a nice boutique hotel in Laihaina and they were running a "promotion". After looking at the room I thought it might be nice and so I booked a room. After surprising the wife she decided she'd rather stay in a full service hotel and so I called to cancel my reservation only to be told it was non-refundable. Surprised I looked at my confirmation and there under "CANCELLATION POLICY" it said "Reservations cancelled more than 15 days prior to arrival a $25 cancellation fee will be charged." No problem right? No. Above in the section begining with "A Suite Deal 20% off", buried in the text is "This promotion is noncancelable." Should I have caught that? Sure. Yes, it's buried in another section and the Cancellation Policy makes no reference to any further details. And so booking a room as I usually do with big hotel chains I discover these guys sneaked one in on me. Shame on me. But you don't have to be a victim. Now, having worked with many smaller companies over the past few decades I know when you run into this sort of shenanigan it usually means the organization is having a hard time cash flow wise which usually means the company is cutting corners and looking for ways to get cash in the door even if it means burning some bridges. Shame on them. I spoke with the manager and her position was "A deal is a deal." And she's right, even if the other party is underhanded. Anyway, beware. Steer clear of these guys.
