Accommodations are versatile, catering to couples and families, with some rooms accommodating up to four guests and baby cribs available upon request. Families are typically housed on the ground floor for convenience and safety. Dining at Michamvi Sunset Bay is a delightful experience, with menus that change daily. Guests can enjoy barbecue dinners on the beach, savor Swahili-inspired dishes, or indulge in delicious crêpes for breakfast. The beachfront restaurant and bar offer the perfect setting to relax while taking in the breathtaking views. Where do we even begin?! Just the most perfect peaceful place to stay on a very quiet part of the island. We had been on safari so were hoping for somewhere relaxing to chill out for the remainder of our trip, and Michamvi Sunset Bay Resort was beautiful. The beach bar is gorgeous and the drinks are all delicious - we took the cocktail tasting very seriously and definitely indulged! We loved the dinner location changing each night, and all the options on the menu were delicious and very fresh. All the staff are extremely friendly and do anything they can to help you. We both had massages and again, perfect and so relaxing. We did say that we have never been somewhere so clean, our room and the outside space were permanently immaculate. The list of possible excursions is long, and you can absolutely make it what you'd like to be, whether that is seeking hustle and bustle in Stone Town, snorkelling on reefs or day/sunset trips on a dhow - or just relaxing and enjoying paradise. Our room was very comfortable and quiet, and there were endless private places to relax across the hotel. We will absolutely be back!

Heaven on Earth! We just left after out second visit and this place is absolutely magical. It is very small, but it still feels like you have many options to choose from. From hanging out in the magical beach bar to lying by the beautiful pool or exploring the water on the paddle boards. Each night a new location is chosen for dinner and this really helps create variety and make each experience unique. There is the most magical sunset every night that we never get tired off. But what we love the most is the people. Huge thank you to Shirley for always making us safe and happy, and to the whole staff. We will definitely be back again!

Absolut fantastic small and very lokal hotel. The service is outstanding. Good food, top cleaning, and very nice and polite manager end hotelteam. Absolut relaxing and far from disturbing issues, so you have to accept transportation for speciel expierences.

Everything is absolut fantastic. The rooms, the food and the personel. The only thing which isnt about the hotel, is the tidewater and you have to spend a lot of dollars if you want to see something because the hotel is far from everything. We came to relax and had a really Great time

Michamvi is beautiful and a great option for those spending time in Zanzibar. It's cut off and not a commercial part of the island. Sunset Bay is located on a beautiful stretch of the beach but we were left wanting for more with the experience. It's a small family run property but there are just too many rules that I would not expect while on holiday. No room service. Fixed dinner menu with no flexibility. Rigid timings. They would not even serve starters at the bar. You have to walk over to the restaurant. Shower did not work properly. AC did not work for our 4 day stay despite multiple follow ups. Very high currency conversion rates while signing off the final bill compared to rates we got in other parts of the island. Properties coming up on either side of this place. Location is great. Might be better options to look at.

I rarely write reviews but felt this small hotel really deserved one. We had a wonderful and very peaceful time at Michamvi Sunset Bay. The staff were incredibly friendly, helpful and welcoming. The Manager Shirley Bowmaker- Falconer was the perfect host; the atmosphere was as a rather sophisticated guest house - we really felt at home. The food was really super - a mixture of traditional Swahili recipes and European dishes, good wine too. It was clearly the best hotel on the beach! We could not fault this place and will definitely be back with loved ones.

We really enjoyed our experience there, there is a pool, a beach, you can discover tasty food from Zanzibar at the resort restaurant. You can even book a snorkelling trip from the reception and see a massive variety of underwater species. The staff is very friendly and when there is a storm that makes everyone panic, the staff remains calm and tell people not to stress… There is also a bar where you can order drinks and enjoy the sunset on the deck chairs at the beach. However, beds for kids aren’t that comfortable compared to the big adult beds.
