Soriyabori Villas Resort

Lovely place and the staff are lovely and very helpful and welcoming. My only fault with the hotel was, No kettle to make a hot drink and no refrigerator in the room to keep drinks cold.

Cet hôtel reste le meilleur de l’île pour l’instant. Il est situé dans un parc arboré magnifique où nous nous sommes endormis avec les bruits de la nuit et réveillés par les chants d’oiseaux, c’était un bonheur. La chambre est une villa spacieuse et décorée avec goût dans le style khmer esprit brocante. La piscine est très belle, le restaurant délicieux et le personnel totalement adorable. Ceci dit, la chambre (la plomberie) aurait besoin de petites rénovations pour garder son charme. Pour le moment l’emplacement est unique mais il risque de subir rapidement la concurrence de petites guesthouses très coquettes où on mange délicieusement bien et où l’ambiance est plus friendly et moins feutrée. Une belle adresse mais très chère par rapport aux guesthouses autour (nous avons testé successivement les deux types d’hébergement). Pour résumer, ce n’est pas un hôtel de luxe mais plus un cottage, cela reste l’adresse la plus confortable.

The hotel is situated on an island across from Kratie, it is accessed by the local ferry, which departs when it is full. The hotel rooms are traditional rooms on stilts, but are very dark inside, difficult to have to windows open as there is no mesh so all bugs are able to get in. Lighting is poor, rooms felt stuffy, there is a ceiling fan and mosquito net. There was a frog in the room by the bed in the morning, thankfully I did put a light on before stepping out of bed and saw it in time. Restaurant is located in main reception area overlooking the swimming pool, food was acceptable, maybe a little pricey compared to other meals we had been having. We only had the 1 night here and I’m sure there are better/easier places to stay in Kratie.

Really enjoyed the island and the hotel. Makara runs a good service with everytjing looking great. It was a bit of a faff to get the boat over but also part of the experience, make sure the hotel arranges a tuktuk to pick you up from the ferry. The rooms were fine but without AC could be hot under the mosquito net- we also got bitten quite a bit. Food was fine with western and khmer options. Loved the island, so peaceful, rural and chilled. Makara arranged a trip to dolphins which was seamless, and fairly priced..

Classy colonial style rooms in lush gardens with the luxury of a shiny blue pool in the middle of a lovely mekong island (Koh Throng). The hotel is worth every penny they charge and if you stay in Kratie you are way better of to rest in and enjoy Koh Throng as Kratie itself is rather run down. Koh Throng on the other hand is a picture perfect island with no cars and friendly locals right in front of Kratie. Get there by ferry from Kratie for 25 cents and the hotel tuk tuk will pick you up on the other side.

1- terrible service. They forgot our reservation so our room was not fully prepared. They forgot to turn on our water and they was a strange and strong smell in our room 2- rooms are quite spacious, nice wooden bungalow but it’s terribly dark inside, mattress are not confortable at all, we didn’t had water the first day, and even after it wasn’t usable. It’s quite noisy as you can hear everything from outside ( ex: dog barking ) 3- restaurant : dîner was nice, we had a good fish nicely prepared. Be careful because each time we had to wait more than 50mn to have our food ready. For breakfast it was more about 20/25mn… very very slow, but it depends if you are in the rush or not 4- very nice pool, very warm, and incredibly huge. It was the best we had during our trip Thé localisation is far from everything so it’s very lovely, but be ready to be very isolated, you need a bike and then a boat to leave the island. 5- terrible front desk. They don’t speak English at all, so when our water was off, we had to wait until morning for our guide to translate because they couldn’t understand. They agreed to book taxi for us, and forgot so we had to walk 3,5km. We ordered our breakfast in advance for the last day, and they also forgot to prep it. It was complicated. Overall a nice place but the service was terrible

Room hot no air conditioning ceiling fan very slow and so unbearably hot room very dark with poor lighting no privacy as toilet is situated in bedroom the food was not nice only a small choice available although extensive menu but western food not available perhaps due to Covid and housekeeping poor room not that clean very old matteress on bed looked worn but the swimming pool lovely Please note it is extremely isolated

I felt like I was on a glamorous, 1940s-era Hollywood film set of a Khmer village. Some pieces were dated, but that added to the old-world charm. The island is idyllic (borrow one of the hotel bikes!), but the ferry is finicky. A Canadian couple told me they never waited more than 15 minutes, but I spent considerably more time waiting on it. If you’re in a pinch, as I was, call the hotel and they will call a private boat for you. It’s $5 one way for private boat vs 25 cents for the ferry. The hotel helpfully arranged my pickups from the ferry with a call as well. About that pinch. I had only given myself one night in Kratie and planned to see the freshwater dolphins the afternoon I arrived. If you do this, best to go see the dolphins first, then go to the hotel as the ferry could eat up your time. The staff was super helpful though in my pinch, and I didn’t have to rearrange a bunch of already booked travel. Better yet, give yourself two nights at this resort and enjoy it. It’s a good place to spend some time with the lead in your life.
