Hotel Kompas

Unfortunately the hotel was a big disappointment . I am travelling worldwide a lot and a four star hotel should keep some standards. It is unacceptable that there is no kettle in the room with basic tea/coffee complimentary. The big suprise, which never happened to me, was a fee of 5 euro for using bathrobes placed in the room! The interiors are also not very appealing, giving the feeling of old place. The wall in our room was decorated with wallpaper which was torn. The staff is generally not friedly, except of two persons in the reception. The only advantage is perfect location, just next to the ski slopes.

Very nice hotel,nice and clean room, good breakfest, view from balcon is so nice. Stuff is very kindly. If you like to go and ski, you need 1 minut walking and to centrum maybe 5 minutes walking. We like it very much and we like to come back again.

The hotel itself was perfectly adequate for what we were expecting. Comfortable rooms, good choice of food, although could be hotter, a bar area for a slightly above average price for drinks in the resort area. The biggest let down was the children staying at the hotel. They were allowed to run, scream and chase eachother up the stairwell, along the corridors every night throughout the week. Despite there being a play area on the lower floor, they essentially had free reign of the entire hotel. After complaining on the 6th night of having no sleep, our room was at the top of the first flight of stairs, we were unable to move rooms as the hotel was full. There was also a ski school of teenagers staying at the hotel who ate at 7pm every night. It was suggested to us by the restaurant staff that perhaps we ought to come back later for our dinner as it was so busy. It felt as though we were in the minority of guests at the hotel who had to take a back seat. It transpires that we were staying during the Serbian school holidays. If only this was mentioned at the time of booking. Crystal Ski might want to take note for future customers wishing to book during January.

Absolutely fantastic location being a 2 minute walk from reception/ ski locker to the nearest ski school ski equipment hire and ski lifts . Large reception with friendly professional staff who are very helpful. Nice log fire and bar in reception area . Great buffet breakfast extensive choice of bacon sausages and fried eggs or boiled and scrambled options. Wide range of fruits cheeses cold cuts etc … Some wonderful local produce and we stayed 5 nights and the breakfast choice varied . The evening buffet was also good for those who don’t want to venture out . The rooms are spacious with good bathroom facilities. Baths bidets and showers ! Warm and quiet with comfy beds and the cleaning staff do a great job of keeping the rooms spotless ! The swimming pool and fitness centre were very clean . The hotel is a 5 minute walk from the old town centre with a wide range of restaurants a supermarket and post office nearby! A nice Christmas market and beautiful Christmas trees and decorations with plenty of snow makes Kranjska Gora and Hotel Kompas an ideal Christmas destination. Hotel Kompas is a great value 4* hotel .

Recommended for families as well, very good location and Hotel. Free car charging stations, parking included, full service, very good breakfast. Even the ski area is in front of the hotel. Only one negative: sauna was not included in the price, only the swimming pool.

Very disappointed in the attitude at this hotel. Seemed to be nickle-and-diming us. For heaven's sake, charge us a couple more euros for our room instead of punishing guests who want an extra towel for the swimming pool or tap water to drink with dinner. After 14 days of hiking the Juliana Alps Trail, plus a couple of days before in Ljubljana and an extra day in Kobarid, in all of which we enjoyed wonderful hospitality and staff who always seemed so eager to make us feel like welcome guests, this hotel left us feeling let down. It had very large bus and touring groups staying there, so maybe that's the way they feel they have to operate. But although our room was nice, and also spacious, we would not choose this hotel again. The food on the buffet was generally acceptable except for the absolutely inedible and rubbery cold fried eggs. The worst was when we were invited to use the swimming pool. We took showers, donned on swim suits, and cover-ups, and went to the pool. Towels, we were informed, would be 3 euros each. Or we could go back and bring towels from our room. So just because it seemed outrageous, we went back and brought our damp bath towels from the room (just one set for each had been provided). Then when I went to get in the pool, the woman pointed to the sign that said we had to shower first. I said I'd just taken a shower. She insisted I needed to take another there. I have to admit I was not happy, shook my head, and entered the hot tub! Childish, I admit, but here's what I wish all swimming pool guests would do (I didn't think of this until later): decline their 3 euro towels and say sweetly that you'll be fine walking through their hallways dripping wet on your way back to your room.
