Firstly, the service quality at the hotel is very high, with staff being friendly and helpful. Whether it's the reception or room service, they respond quickly to guests' needs and always with a smile.
Secondly, the quality of the in-room dining is excellent. Whether it's breakfast or dinner, the food delivered to the room is not only fresh and delicious but also beautifully presented, making you feel genuinely welcome. It's particularly worth mentioning that I once accidentally left some items in the room. The hotel staff promptly contacted me and arranged to return the items quickly, which was very reassuring.
However, there are a few areas where the Shangri-La Tanjung Aru Resort could improve. Firstly, the hotel's location is relatively remote, making it inconvenient to hail a taxi, especially at night or during peak hours, which can be troublesome for guests who need to go out frequently. Additionally, there are some issues with the hotel's pool facilities. The edges of the pool may be rough, and I accidentally got a cut while using the pool. I hope the hotel can address this to enhance the safety and comfort of their guests.
Overall, the Shangri-La Tanjung Aru Resort remains a highly recommended accommodation choice, particularly for travelers seeking excellent service and delicious meals. If they can resolve the transportation and pool facility issues, this would be an ideal place for a relaxing and enjoyable stay.

The hotel room which I stayed was very confortable, with wide space, big bed, clean bedsheets and near to eating places and also near to the airport. Initially I was afraid the noise from the airplanes may disturb my sleep as my room was facing on the left side of the building, but to my surprise I did not hear planes flying so I was happy that I didn't experience any noise to disturb my tranquility. The only con is there is no restaurant in the hotel so my breakfast came as a bento like box takeaway. No coffee also, the coffee is available in the room but is chargeable. Only the tea bags are free. The parking is multi-storeyed and managed electronically. You put your car into the car lift and it is then parked automatically one car at a time. To retrieve your car, you need to scan your hotel card for it to be brought down via the car lift again. It may be time consuming if you are in a hurry and there are a few people in the queue before you.

SERIOUSSSLY RECOMMENDED! I read the 1 star review and I got the hotel which was totally opposite from what I read from the review of 1 star. The hotel was super duper clean! Super duper comfy! The equipment was super duper complete inside the hotel room. You can ask the company to clean your room in the morning, and yeah they will come and clean your room, you know! Just whatsapp them if anything is wrong. The procedure of getting the keys without any receptionist was totally a fun way and easy for someone who is introverted. AND CHEAP ALSO!!! Really near to the best MALL in Sabah as well. You can walk to the mall also.

The receptionist is kind and friendly. Due to the limited first come first hotel parking lot and when we reached was 10pm, he taught us where to park at the public parking area and gave us one piece parking coupon for the next morning to avoid our car being fined in the morning. Luckily the next day can buy the parking coupon at the kiosk. Besides, with my request of nice view and high floor, the hotel listened to me and free upgraded us to a river view room (attached with my room's window view)! I feel so pleased to have this service. However a little upset is their aircond not really cold, we switched on whole day the room still in a bit warm conditions. Others than that the room quite clean and tidy..
The location of hotel is a bit far and during night time the surrounding quite dark, a bit dangerous for alone.

Very clean and new. Looks like being renovated. Came here for seminar as the talk is organized inside the hotel. The location is good as it is in the center of the city. Service is good except that check in counter only have 2 and average waiting time is about 30 minutes for check in. However, maybe due to the hotel is full, our rooms are not ready when we check in at 3pm. But the hotel upgrade our room to another available unit which we will give a credit to the hotel. Breakfast is good and many variety, only the structure of the dining area is very inconvenient as the dining area too small and many corners which is not convenient to obtain the food especially for the beverage counter. The dining que line is too long due to the location where both the coffee machine are too close to each other and doesn’t not have any turning point and the coffee machine is very very slow. Suggest to change to a bigger dining area as the dining area cannot fit the number of customers especially for a seminar of 200+ people and refill is slow and we only have 1 hour lunch time where queing for food already took almost half an hour. Other than the above, I am satisfied with the hotel.

I stayed at this hotel for 6 days and 5 nights for both business and leisure purposes. The hotel's location is one of the best in Kota Kinabalu. On the first day, I was issued a room that did not match my reservation. However, the front office staff were friendly and very professional, and they assisted me in changing to another room. Unfortunately, the next day, I had to change rooms again due to a leaking air conditioner. It was honestly a very bad experience to have to change rooms twice within the first two days. Despite this, the Duty Manager, Mr. Bryan, was very kind and professional in helping me resolve the issue. I appreciate the Marriott's high standard of service. Overall, the stay was good, and the sunsets were breathtaking.

An excellent stay in Kota Kinabalu.
My family and I thoroughly enjoyed our time here, largely in part because of the hotel. From the easy and friendly welcome at the reception, club lounge and restaurant to help from the travel desk, we received good service all around.
The club lounge food while not varied, was good. I also loved the views from the rooftop bar. The pool looked to be a little dated but was still acceptable. The gym was well equipped! Unfortunately, I did not make a booking in time to try their massage services.
Finally, the room was lovely. Comfy bed and pillows. The hotel is only 15 stories and we were on the 8th floor, while it's not very high the sea view was still gorgeous.
Additional kudos, I appreciated that the laundry team could accommodate for washing of shoes as I had just completed the Mount Kinabalu hike.
We made a spontaneous booking to Mari Mari Cultural Village and the travel desk service was really helpful in arranging our booking for the next day.
All in all, a fantastic stay and I look forward to staying here again.

Although we only spent 1 night at the hotel but we have a great experience staying there. We had a splendid sea view from our room, the service are awesome, thanks to reception staff, concierge and f&b team. They are so friendly and helpful, thumbs up for your hospitality. We had our dinner and breakfast buffet here as well. This hotel also served marvelous and delicious food. Overall i'll give 10 ⭐for this hotel. Last but not least this hotel is REPEATABLE and we will come back again.

I didn't realise it's the big room when do the booking. Unfortunately, I haven't fully utilised the facilities because I am busy with the exhibition. But I did a quick tour of the room. It comes with a balcony with a nice view. Separated hall & bedroom with big bathroom! 1 TV at the hall & 1 TV in the bedroom. It also has a fridge, microwave, and a stove for light cooking.
The check-in & check-out were smooth & friendly front counter. I had a problem with the bedroom air-conditioning & they attended to it very fast!
Breakfast has decent varieties.
Parking is on the roadside - public car park, you can buy the parking coupon from the hotel.
It's near Pasar Gaya, Pasar Filipino, shopping malls, convenience shops & restaurants.
Overall, it is really worth the price. Good job & keep up the good works!

I was there for a week-long work trip and chose this hotel based on its competitive rates and promising reviews. I must say, my experience was nothing short of delightful, and I’m eager to share my thoughts.
First and foremost, the room itself was incredibly spacious, which made my stay very comfortable. It’s rare to find such ample space in a hotel room at this price point, and it truly set the tone for a relaxing and productive week. The room was well-appointed, with all the necessary amenities to ensure a pleasant stay. The bed was exceptionally comfortable, allowing me to rest well after long days of meetings.
One of the highlights of my room was the stunning view it offered. From my window, I had a clear view of the sea, which was both calming and inspiring. Additionally, I could see Suria Mall, a convenient location for shopping and dining. Waking up to such a beautiful sight each day was invigorating and added a touch of luxury to my stay. My room number was 705, and I would highly recommend it to future guests seeking a room with a view.
The hotel staff deserve a special mention for their friendliness and professionalism. From the moment I checked in, I was greeted with warm smiles and efficient service. The staff were always ready to assist with any inquiries or requests, making me feel welcome and valued as a guest. While the hotel did not provide breakfast, this was not an issue for me. There are plenty of dining options nearby, and it gave me the opportunity to explore local cafes and restaurants. The convenience of Suria Mall being so close meant that I had a variety of choices at my disposal.
Reflecting on my stay, I cannot find anything to complain about. The hotel delivered on all fronts, offering comfort, convenience, and excellent service. I have no regrets about choosing this hotel for my work trip, and it has certainly set a high standard for my future travels.

WwhitelotvHotel location is great, right beside Suria Sabah, the second largest mall in the area. Also 10 mins walk to Gaya street - the main food place and where the weekend market is. Size of our family room is also huge! Too bad we got a poor view from our room, if not it would be perfect. Service of staff is friendly and helpful.
Only cons are the decor of the place is dated, and bath towels are worn down and some stained. The lighting of the bathroom is really dim, quite challenging to see clearly once inside.

Day1 stay checked in around 330pm and it was smooth, we were assigned a room in which on my request. Wifi was strong, water pressure was superb, it has a damp(wet) carpet spot till the end of our stay.
Day2 breakfast was below average, unlike before, the variety was below par. Quality of the food wise average.
We asked for room cleaning(tidy) but since 1100am till 4pm when we back from our errands, the room was still untidy. But we called the passer by cleaning team for towels change and other amenities replenishment
Day3 breaksfast was like day2, less variety.
Day4 breakfast like same day2 and day3, if it werent included in our booking, i would rather buy outside.
3 nights stay was ok but the question remains, maybe i would recommend but i will come back if the breakfast choices improve

Try local foods around this hotel e.g, 1) Yee Fung…..don’t miss Wonton Soup 2) Keng Wan Hing……Big Pau (Chinese bun) with hot coffee Actually, Atkinson Tower and Signal Hill Observatory are in walking area but both have been closed for renovation. I stayed in Single room without window…..clean, private bathroom, air condition, tv……..anyway, there was no daily housekeeping? Cos I stayed 2 nights but no one came to my room. I stayed on 3rd floor (only 3 floor…..still have a lift) and there was heavy rain on 2nd night…….big rain big sound……made my Cinemax….watching Indiana Jones….gone with the rain…..no signal at all (TV Hotel) In the summary, highly recommended for reasonable price for budget traveller upon prime location. Note for Airport Transfer From KKiA or BKI, there was no operation of Airport Bus due to Covid situation. Then, you can rake a taxi at fixed fee at 30 ringgit or grab only 10 ringgit……for sure….Grab….airport bus only 5 ringgit

GGuest UserNothing much that i can say. my family and I have amazing stay at Borneo Beach Villa karambunai for 3 days 2 night. The villas is clean, the pool is clean and the beach is so beautiful. My family really enjoy with the stay. However the reason i give. 4 star because our villa has some of broken chair at table outside and the door is very hard to open because of rusty. I think maybe the villa itself is too old. Mybe it just our villa not sure with another. It will be nice if they can check regularly maintenance for each villa Some of things need to remind while you in here: 1. Villas doesnt have WIFI. Only have at receptionist, thus if you want to do work while chilling make sure you bring your own wifi. 2. Make sure to buy any groceries that you want before reach to villa because the distant with mart is far away they didnt have their own mart, only restaurant 3. This villa didnt provide any lobby service. But aboVe all that we are really enjoy staying here.

NNanie Idayu MMy husband and I spent two nights here. The queen room size is suitable for family with 2 children under 10. During our stay the tv channels had problems due to the change from analogue to digital tv. We asked for help from the maintanence and he showed up...3 times but the problem unsolved (my husband was quite upset because he wanted to watch the Malaysia Cup final between JDT and Kedah... lol). We have not tried the food because breakfast was not included in my room rate. Mini bar is not provided in room. The room and bathroom are clean. The hotel provide a newspaper every morning. The location is good even for those who come without transportation...just a few minutes walk to Imago, Craft Market and KK market

GGuest UserThis is a very clean hotel. They are doing renovations to maintain its quality. Front desk is very helpful. Rooms a nice clean and spacious. Breakfast is not huge but you won't go away hungry. Very close to several tasty restaurants and there is a coffee shop. Very nice mountain view at cafe level 6.
