High Life Bungalow

The bungalows are basic but have everything you need for your stay. They have a safe, dressing table with a stool , tv, very comfy bed and a balcony. We opted for the sea view one and wasn’t disappointed at all. The bungalows are cleaned everyday if you want, you just have to leave the sign outside your door. Beach towels are provided and changed for clean ones if you need it. Also shower gel and hand soap in the bathroom. The location of High Life bungalows is up high on the edge of the island so there are a lot of steps down to your bungalow depending which one you have also the steps continue down to the pool, Restuarant and to the beautiful beach. This is not at all for someone who isn’t very energetic because the weather is very hot at times so climbing back up is tough at times. But is also great exercise. The restaurant servers nice food and has a good selection to choose from. They do a great Mai Tai cocktail and healthy fruit shakes. You can also hire a scooter from high life which is a must if you want to see around this beautiful island.

I cannot recommend Highlife bungalows highly enough. It’s a great place to stay a full package. The room is clean and maintained. Well the staff are accent and friendly. The food is good and my day was excellent. Would not hesitate to recommend this to anyone but it’s very hard to get in. It’s always busy because it’s a good place to stay.

Stayed here for our second year in a row, our bungalow had fabulous views out to sea, the bed was comfy and big. The food at the restaurant was always really nice and the cocktails were spot on. The staff are so friendly and helpful. You can hire scooters at the front reception ,they all look new and the one we had worked perfectly. Love this place ,would stay here every time we’re on the island

I had had a dish with thai nudles. It was delicius. On the side there were three slices of carrots . I asked the waiter if I possibly could have a couple of more slices of carrots because they were extra good. The answer was... "of course if I paid". My respons to that was "mai pen rai"... and I thought I will not go to that restaurant again. I thought that was greedy... Well, I admit, I am a bit strange maybe. In my restaurant I would have offered the guest the carrots in good will and the guest would have been satisfied.

We have recently spent 8 days at this hotel and we enjoyed every minute. We loved the location of Haad Yao, walking distance to 7/11 and restaurants and bars, on the road as well as beach. Every room boasts fantastic panoramic views of the bay. The rooms are definitely rustic but they have charm and an authenticity which we liked. However an update of the rooms I think should be considered, although I think it is a very fair nightly price for how it currently is (please don’t get me wrong we loved it) The rooms aren’t automatically cleaned every day but all you need to do is ask lovely Lily on reception and she instructs the team to clean/Empty bins/refresh water etc. Lily was great, helpful and good understanding of English. Hired bikes from reception. The restaurant food is FABULOUS!!!! Faultless! Every meal we ate there. Best food we’ve had all holiday. Ei, the beautiful smiley lady who works in the restaurant is always always happy and caring and remembers what your likes and dislikes are, she is a gem to this restaurant, she goes out of her way to ensure you are ok. Steps down to the beach are not too steep. We also loved the secret beach which is the other side of the hotel. If you’re not very mobile this isn’t the hotel for you with the deep steps to some of the rooms. But we loved our peaceful tranquil And idyllic view. I highly recommend staying here!

Kind service. Nice swimmingpool with beautiful view and enough chill spots. Good restaurant, cozy, nice view en quick service. The rooms are spacious with refrigerator and a balkony with wonderfull view. We had a lot of rain, so we order some food by the restaurant to eat in our bungalow. The service was clear and quick, de food delicious. Our shower had some struggels, they fixt it in less than een our. It's also possible to rent a bike and laundry service. Both nice services to use here. The hotel has a private entrance to the beach, near the hotel are different nice restaurants and a 7-eleven. With the bike you can visit a lot neighbourhoods.

My wife and I had an amazing meal here. Reserved a great table with a view of the bay in advance and enjoyed the most delicious meal, with pre-dinner cocktails (I have it on good authority that their Maitai's are exceptional) and their house cocktails are certainly worth trying. The servi e was delightful. The food that followed was extremely tasty and well presented. We tried the whole red snapper (garlic and pepper), the morning glory, the black pepper tuna, and the sautéed pork dishes and would order them all again in a heartbeat. A wonderful evening. Would thoroughly recommend a visit for a meal!

Hotel: We stayed 3 nights at High Life Bungalow, we really enjoyed our stay! We stayed in room A16 which had a beautiful balcony overlooking the beach. We didn’t realise at first that there were stairs directly down to the beach and walked up and down the hills on the road - the stairs straight to the beach were a lovely touch. The staff were so lovely here, on our last night my husband got food poisoning and spent the night ill, meaning we didn’t make our 8am ferry to Koh Tao, the staff kindly let us check out late so he could stay in the room as long as possible before the 1pm ferry, we were so grateful! Restaurant: We stayed at High Life bungalow and ate dinner here once, but had drinks and dessert here all 3 nights. We had the Kao Soi Gai and beef Pad Krapaw and they were SO delicious. Really really tasty and flavoursome, both the beef and chicken were so tender, and the broth on the Kao Soi so rich and coconutty, we’d highly recommend! For dessert we ordered the banana fritters twice and these are delicious, like a donut covered fried banana - you have to check it out! On top of the delicious food the staff here are so so nice, friendly, warm and welcoming ☺️

Well, first of all we had a great time. So why only 3 stars? Some parts are great: - restaurant - location - friendliness of all staff! No idea where the other people had a negative encounter. - pool - view - common areas in general - stairs are fine, if you are not 2 or 82 years old - beach is one of the best for kids and grown ups alike. So if the rooms would live up to this, then this would be the place! Negatives: - no blackout blinds. You are awake by 6:30 - water pressure. There is just no water coming out of the shower or tap - beds are super hard. Futon style - price of the restaurant - value of the room, for what it is offering. - not enough sun chairs. Some days it is fine, some (weekends) there are lots of people from outside coming and there is no free spaces at the pool. Would I come again. Yes, but I also would not mind some improvements to the room.
