Pinewood Beach Resort & Spa

We loved our stay here, and would happily come back. The staff were outstanding and give the hotel a great a**osphere. The rooms are very nice (we had a balcony with a view of the beach), and the food is excellent (especially the pizza!). The grounds are lovely and very well laid out, so that the outlook from every room feels private. The hotel is situated in a quiet area, and there's not too much hassle from vendors on the beach. There's great wildlife around the grounds, with Sykes' monkeys, vervets, and black & white colobus around most days, and regular silvery-cheeked hornbills. We were all-inclusive, and it felt like good value for money. If I had to search for negatives, the only ones I can find are that the accommodation is quite tightly packed into the space (no gardens to wander through) and some people might find the food repetitive after a week (not a problem for me!).

What a wonderful hotel. From the moment we arrived we were looked after so well. Apamela, the manager, met us and explained all about the hotel, facilities and meals. My parents asked for a ground floor room as my Dad is 85, and she actually upgraded them to an absolutely beautiful suite, which was perfect, mid way between the beach and the restaurant, which was incredibly kind and thoughtful. She also moved both ourselves and my daughter so we would all be together in the same block. The grounds of the hotel are superb- beautiful, green tropical paradise and the golden sands perfection. It is situated further south than the majority of hotels, and therefore quiet and tranquil. Perfect! The staff were friendly, cheerful and helpful. The food was absolutely wonderful...excellent scrambled eggs in the mornings, and a huge array of choices from hot to cold and breads, croissants etc including fresh fruit that was prepared on request (mango and pineapple incredible!). The evening meals were taken down by the beach, buffet style, which given the heat while we were there, was a brilliant choice as there was a refreshing sea breeze. The choice was huge and all exceptional quality, with something for everyone, and every day was different. The BBQ was top quality, and a special thanks to the lovely lady who cooked the most wonderful Indian breads (naan, roti etc) fresh while you waited. Valentines day was a special treat- a champagne cocktail on arrival at dinner. and being presented with beautiful red roses was a lovely touch. Apamela arranged a snorkelling trip for us which was very reasonably priced and with a reliable contact of hers, so we felt we were in very good hands- definitely recommended! My husband who loves natural history and wildlife was taken on a guided walk in the local forest, which she also kindly arranged and he very much enjoyed. Another plus point is the arrangement the hotel has with the local beach boys, and it was lovely not to be bothered constantly when going for a swim, which we had come across in other areas of the Kenyan coast on previous trips. Overall I cannot recommend Pinewood enough- there was nothing we would change, and Apamela and her staff went the extra mile. I sincerely hope we have the opportunity to return

My stay at Pinewood Beach Resort & Spa was nothing short of magical. Nestled on the pristine shores of Galu Beach, this boutique resort offers a serene escape from the hustle and bustle of everyday life. Location: The resort’s location is its first winning point, offering stunning views and a peaceful a**osphere. The surrounding heavy tropical flora and palms not only provide a beautiful backdrop but also attract an array of wildlife, adding to the overall experience. Service: What stood out the most during my stay was the exceptional service. The staff, led by Pamela, were attentive, friendly, and always willing to go the extra mile to ensure our comfort. Their personalized approach made us feel special and well cared for.

A fabulous stay as a family. Beautiful setting with white sandy beach and being a smaller hotel very friendly and relaxed. 3 dining locations all equally good with amazing food. Staff from the lovely Pamela down to Eunice and Millie are brilliant nothing was too much trouble - thank you for a memorable stay

The hotel photos are not a good reflection of how beautiful this hotel is. Its relatively small compared to the big chain hotels, but is in a quiet secluded spot on a lovely white powder beach and heaven after a full on safari. My room had everything I expected and more, the food was varied and great for vegetarians and the lounge areas are very comfortable. Theres no in room tv, that for me was fine, although there is one in the lounge if you need to catch up on the football. Etc Two highlights for me, firstly, the spa. Absolutely perfect, trea**ents were great and the spa lady did a great job each time. Secondly, my trip today. Arranged via the animation guy. He took a small group of us to a local school. The children were so happy to see us, I have never experienced such a wonderful welcome. On the way we stopped at a local supermarket where we bought some sweets etc to take along. The school needs whatever supplies they can get, pens, books paper etc and the children were super excited to receive a football. Seeing the children so excited and how hard the teachers are working, made me emotional to say the least. Ill never forget this day! The day could easily have been overlooked as its just written on a board at the back of the hotel, Im so glad I saw it! Im intending on sending some learning supplies from the UK and next time I visit I will bring items too. I would highly recommend this trip, its unforgettable and helps the local people.

Pinewood is a slice of paradise! It is a small, boutique hotel, it is beautifully designed, the food and drink selection is varied and of very high quality and above all, the staff are all so friendly and helpful. I would highly recommend this hotel to anybody who wants a relaxing few days after a hectic safari!

Just came back from a three days stay for a wedding at Pinewood and there is nothing I did not like about this traditional resort on white sandy quiet Galu beach. Very well maintained grounds and accommodation with eyes for the smallest details. A tranquil and very relaxed a**osphere with Kenyan hospitality at its best. Start your day with an excellent breakfast buffet spread and enjoy freshly brewed coffee and fruits carvery to your likings and end your day with a poolside dinner under the stars. Thank you Pamela the Manager and her team ( not forgetting Rasta the Hotels guardian dog ) for making my friends Beach wedding perfect and most memorable - well done and what better place could there be……

Wow what a truly fantastic hotel. Nothing was too much trouble for the staff. The food was AMAZING. Loved that they did dinner by the pool and down by the beach as well. The beach bar was great and cool in the evening which was lovely as it was so hot when we were there. I was worried as it being rainy season we would get a lot of rain but only had a shower or 2. If you can go for a suite as they are huge and really nicely decorated. I have nothing negative to say about this hotel and really hope I can visit again soon.

I was a bit apprehensive about coming here, but the pictures and write up dont do the hotel justice. Its beautiful! Lush green vegetation, birds singing and frogs croaking are the welcome you get at this hotel. My room was lovely, everything I could want and more. Even a bed on the balcony, which is s first for me and Ive stayed in lots of hotels. Small hotel with fab decor, comfortable lounges and excellent veggie food options! The spa is amazing, the lady who does the trea**ents is in my opinion, first class! Ive been to lots of spas around the world and she is one of the best!! Its only my second day here after a week long safari and I feel like I have my own piece of paradise. I WILL be coming back.
