Honest review. The hotel is lovely, but not 5 stars. The location isn’t great - it’s in a very deprived area and there is not much around at all. Few shops and bars. We walked to the aquarium (20 mins walk ) and heard shooting the whole way from what must be an army practice area? And walked passed families with children sleeping on the side of the roads in their cars. Didn’t feel safe really with our own 3 kids. The aquarium is good if you have children. The staff are amazing, very friendly. The pools are amazing and are also always clean. Slightly weird that the splash park didn’t open until 11am. There is a constant wiff of sewers no matter where you are in the hotel! The food is average - very repetitive and random. The desserts are delicious. The gyros are also very good. The Asian restaurant on site was worth it. We booked as soon as we got there as it got booked up fast. The drinks are Greek own brand and are drinkable if you hold your nose. The cocktails are good. We booked a family room - The second bedroom had no windows so was very dark and dingy with one tiny light. Nice size rooms though and always clean. The beach is gorgeous - 10 euros for 2 chairs and an umbrella. Overall we enjoyed our stay, but wouldn’t go back.

Emma at Aegeo spa was wonderful, such a lovely relaxing massage but also dealt with knots and problems I had. Feeling very rejuvenated. It was just perfect. I highly recommend Emma and this spa to anyone. Gouves hotel and water park is also amazing. Something for everyone, so many pools and slides you wouldn’t get bored. Umami restaurant is the best! Wonderful food. The whole place is perfect, friendly, clean, hospitable and we don’t want to leave. Great place!

The place is just lovely…the staff incredibly friendly. The food of a very high standard. The resort is so clean. Spotless. I had a massage with Giota and she was just amazing!!! So professional!! The rest of the staff were just so lovely too especially Gianna!!

The spa in the water Gouves water park hotel is very good. Emma worked on me twice and was fantastic. My wife also had two treatments at the spa and was very impressed. I would recommend the hotel and also the spar to any families looking for a good child friendly and relaxing time holiday.

Hotel is amazing, staff are so lovely and nothing is too much trouble. Got a Cretan massage done with Emma in the spa which was amazing and so relaxing! All spa staff very friendly also. Food is amazing, massive selection and facilities are great

Excellent swim up room with lovely pool area. Room was clean and tidy, staff welcoming and helpful. Check in was quick and a lovely man showed us around the resort. The beach is a short walk away and there is a lovely hotel resteraunt called smile which served a fantastic menu of Greek food. We also enjoyed the snack bars that had pizza, gyros and burgers.

We booked for 2 adults 1 child (teenager) for May school holidays. When we arrived waited an hour to check in as massive queue. Room for us was tiny, block 500 overlooking wasteland. Clean but very basic. Asked for another room and was told would have to upgrade at €400 more so declined. The hotel is in a good location, 5 min walk to beach, 20 mins from airport, 5 min walk to touristy shops and restaurants. Food is ok, what you would expect for 3* hotel. After 5 days hotel room manager asks us about our room after leaving a note under our door and we explain we complained at start of hols. He says he will see what he can do and will find us. He never does. Check out is 11am so we asked to have the room for longer as a sorry but told no unless we pay an additional €100 euros although our room was not booked for anyone else! Not great customer service… Reason for 3* rating; +Good Location +Ok Food +Pretty clean +Plenty of pools and sunbeds ~Watered down drinks, cocktails poor ~Have to pay for drinks in some restaurants ~Entertainment mediocre. Karaoke but children not allowed and adults don’t want to do it ~Always have to queue for a good few mins to get a drink Tip 1: get the €2 bus into the town rather than taxi. Tip 2: if you’re used to luxury and good service, book somewhere else

We had a great holiday here. We booked a family suite, which was lovely. I think the bathroom could do with extra lighting, as it’s quite dingy in the shower area. I heard from other guests that the standard rooms are very basic, so maybe be aware of this when booking. Other than the bathroom lighting; our room was lovely, clean and comfortable. Gyros and pizzas at lunch time were fab. There were plenty of options at the buffet, however not very hot. I think this is to be expected though with the amount of people catered for. The staff were mostly friendly. The entertainment staff were fab, our daughter loved the mini disco. I’d definitely recommend this hotel to families. We did get a taxi into hersonissos twice as there’s not much around the hotel, if you like to go out sometimes. So I’d be wary of this when booking too.

Overall a very good holiday experience. I would argue against the 5 star rating but perhaps reflects the standard of accommodation across Gouves. Food good, drinks very average, great swimming pools and splash park. Rooms very comfortable and light with high cleaning standards daily. Entertainment team never stop and go above and beyond. The mgmt who walk around the site need to learn to smile and always look fed up. The gyros, pizza and burgers from midday to 18.00 are excellent. Highly recommend the Asian resteraunt on site with a great choice and good service. Check in was slow with just one person on reception, however he was very informative. Look after the cats around the hotel, they deserve it. For 2 euros you can buy cat food from the nearby supermarket.
