The property is conveniently located in the Thamel neighborhood so you have all of the backpacker and tourist shops around. They do not have a travel agent on the premises, but those are only a few steps outside the gate. The guys at the desk and security will give you inflated prices for things, so take their advice with that knowledge in mind.
The room was rather small and the outlets were a little loose. The plugs kept falling out. The room was clean but cramped. There was little space to move, but that was fine, as I only spent about two waking hours in the space over two or three nights. Enough time to shower and get dressed.
Breakfast was serviceable. They had meat, sometimes. The garden area was nice and quiet. It is a stark contrast to the hustle and bustle of the neighborhood once you walk out into the streets. There is a view from the top floor where you can sit out and watch the sunrise or sunset.
The neighborhoods are walkable. Swoyambhu Mahachaitya was about a 25-minute walk, and Durban Square was ten minutes.
Taxi drivers do not like the hotel because it is on a one-way street, but if you use the Dom Himalaya address, it's much easier. The two hotels are physically connected through a small but accessible door. Use Pathao to get the price before you ask the security to get a taxi. Pathao was about 375 Rupee to the airport but the security will take you to a waiting taxi that charges 500-700.
