When I booked I had thought Victoria Cliff would be a sort of intimate family hotel with staff able to organise island trips, it turned out to be a full-fledged (too) sophisticated resort, safe and well engineered concrete building (no charm other than the outstanding view) too much for the western adventurer : everything modern and in working order : aircon, toilet, shower etc. clean swimming pool, clean rooms. The staff at the restaurant and the reception were very friendly and helpful. Ko Saw the marine guide to Horsehoe island was particularly friendly, attentive and professional. However, on the day of my arrival VC had commissioned a third party for my first island trip to happen the next day and which turned out unsatisfactory to say the least, with a rather unpleasant strategy by the Thai boat company to hop me out of the trip. I can not recommend enough the commissioned lady to follow the application of non ASEAN customers more closely. I understood later that the current administration make permissions to non ASEAN citizens too complicated for excursions to happened smoothly within only 36 hours. To make up for this unpleasant mishap the management of VC refunded and compensated me with a free meal and an upgrade on another excursion to their Nyaung Phee branch, although still disappointed the effort was appreciated. .
