Hotel Villa Mahal

Wow what can we say !! ALL the food was outstanding. Salt baked seabass was amazing The views spectacular. But the service from Carlos our waiter was simply the best. Attentive but not overly fussy .. just the best !!! Seriously cannot wait to return.

Beautiful relaxing boutique hotel with incredible views. The food at the restaurant was excellent quality and the situation on the edge of the water spectacular. The breakfasts healthy and plentiful. Special mention to our lovely waiter Ozgur who was always smiling and attentive! Cocktails were also delicious - can recommend Tears of Happiness! There are loads of steps so you do need to be fairly mobile but they offer a buggy service if it gets too much. We had the amazing infinity pool mostly to ourselves. We stayed in the Sunset Suite with our 19 year old daughter on a roll up bed which was pretty spacious although not a lot of privacy from the shower. We hired the hotel yacht for the day and had the most wonderful day sailing around the harbour and swimming, snorkelling and paddleboarding. Also very easy to get to the main town by the free hotel boat service which runs till 7pm and only £3 in a taxi back. A very relaxing holiday.

Beautiful and tranquil restaurant nestled right on the Turkish riviera. Delicious food, beautiful setting and attentive staff. Highly recommend the fish in salt which the shell is set alight and tasted unreal. Definitely worth a visit

My wife and l just had a great 5 night stay at this hotel.This is our second time this year and we will be back next year with our family. The views from all rooms are amazing and you can relax as soon as you arrive. The staff are enthusiastic and friendly, and the owner is constantly around talking to guests. Special mention for the restaurant Head Waiter, Carlos who is very professional and welcoming, he is constantly checking all guests are happy. Also worth a mention is the food, this is consistently to a very high standard. Kalkan is a great place to visit and the hotels water taxi is constantly available for the short trip.

I travel a lot and this is one of my favorite destinations in all of the world! I rarely want to go back to any destination more than once & have already visited this fabulous hotel twice and would be just as excited to go again. The design of the hotel is stunning, the views are incredible and the food is delicious. My favorite part is how the hotel is built into the natural landscape. During the day you lounge right at the sea (you can literally just stand up and jump in) and at night they turn the same area into a romantic dining experience with stunning views of lit up Kalkan and live music. The service is excellent all day long. If you want a cocktail by the sea, no problem. The daytime dining area is just a short flight up which allows for continued beautiful views with a relaxed vibe while enjoying delicious Turkish food. Our last room had a huge outdoor jacuzzi tub so we could look out onto the view while taking a bath & enjoying a glass of wine! I also got a massage and the masseuse was actually quite good. The location is just a short ferry or taxi away from town, which is also charming. I cannot recommend this place enough!

We didn't stay at the hotel but I wanted to recommend the beach club. We came a couple of times for lunch and then finally for dinner on a Thursday evening. It was our third visit to Kalkan and on our first time we had stayed in a villa close to the Mahal Beach Club so walked down there for lunch often because it was so convenient. A few years later we were back and this time took taxis as it was such a great experience. It's in a beautiful spot and the views are incredible. It's a lovely relaxed place to have a very long lunch before getting the water shuttle back to Kalkan. The dinner on a Thursday evening though was amazing. When we asked about it we were told to come on a Thursday as there would be live music. We were a bit worried about that as live music can be so hit and miss. We needn't have been though as it was absolutely perfect. It was the right volume and the right choice of songs to accompany the setting. We were sad when his performance ended. It was all lit beautifully and the view was even more spectacular at night. The food and drinks were amazing although I really felt for the staff having to run up and down those stone stairs so much. We took advantage of pre-ordering the salt baked sea bass which was served with some ceremony and made it all even more special. It is not cheap but it feels worth the money. It would be great for any couples looking for a really romantic time. We three equally enjoyed it though! Carlos is the main guy there and he looks after everyone really well. I would recommend you go.

The most perfect holiday destination, as long as you don’t mind a few steps! We loved our three night stay at Villa Mahal after a week’s holiday with family in Gocek. It was a joy to sit beside the sea at the Beach Club, so much so we found it hard to tear ourselves away! Candlelit dining in the evenings was just magical. And the food was simply delicious. We will most definitely return!

We have just returned from a week at the Villa Mahal. This is a quiet, beautifully positioned hotel that does the basics well. If you want entertainment, music, gyms etc. don’t book. We had a sunset deluxe room, which apart from the leg busting climb, was terrific. It is plain, clean and cool, with good air conditioning. The food was wonderful, lovely views across the bay and terrific seafood options. Minor criticisms are the dinner service in the evening. There are a plethora or young men working here, but getting drinks and dinner service is hit and miss. Always the wine would arrive with the starter, we struggled to get served one night after a wait of half and hour, and attention to detail lacked. This is an expensive place to stay so better service is expected. Breakfast service on the other hand , was much improved. The swimming and sunbathing platforms are wonderful. There many sun beds, so no need to plonk your towel down early for a good pitch. Staff were friendly once we had been there a few days. Early on they were grumpy and struggled with English. The boat into town doesn’t run every half hour as stated, but that’s not really a problem. It needs to run later in the evening, bit that would deter residents from eating here. It also takes people who have used the services from the town, and once we had to wait an extra half hour as they got priority. This needs changing. Overall this is a fabulous resort, but needs improving to justify the price.

The first think you should know is that there are 200 steps from reception to the restaurant and all the rooms are somewhere on that staircase so this is not for people with health or mobility issues. The second thing to know is that this is really trying to be something it isn't. While the location is great and the room was fine, it is expensive and the staff feel more like they are a bunch of the owners buddies rather than professional staff. The guy that helped us at reception was great but the restaurant staff were really a joke. They sell you on eating by the water, which was lovely, but the food and the service were really quite poor. we ate in town after the first night. Overpriced.
