This is my second time starting at the "Alaskan Hotel and Bar," and my second review. I don't to be redundant, so I'll just mention a few things that I forgot to address in my first review.
This remains the coolest hotel I've ever stayed at; and like Johnny Cash, I've been everywhere. It's on the National Register of Historic Places. It's old.
My room is heated with a cast iron radiator, from the early 1900s. There is also a glass cabinet secretary chest (I think it's called that, lol; along with an antique wood wardrobe chest. It also has a couple of mirrors and headboard that look equally old, and a bit beat up, but absolutely usable. The baseboards are a bit scuffed. Basically, the room looks and FEELS old as heck.
And. That. Is. AWESOME!
You can go to any modern, chain-hotel, and with a few exceptions, know exactly what your room is going to look like, BECAUSE THEY ALL LOOK THE SAME, lol.
But, THIS hotel, looks and FEELS like something straight or of the wild West. Yet it's still clean, the beds are comfortable, and there are no bugs. Give them a try. It will be the icing on the cake of your own Alaskan adventure. Travelers NEVER consider their hotel as part of their vacation/exploration. But, I promise you, when you go home, you'll tell people about the cool, wild West hotel you stayed at.
