Staying at the Capital Inn made my trip to Juneau a dream! Elizabeth & Bing took excellent care of us every day, with their delicious breakfasts and thoughtful local recommendations. (Seriously, I'm not a morning person at all, but Bing's cooking and Elizabeth's bakes made a convert of me!) Their attention to detail really makes the inn a serene & restorative landing pad at the end (and sometimes in the middle) of any day. They are impeccable hosts, and their love for this place & for the wild beauty of Alaska really shines through their hospitality. The location of the inn is perfectly situated between downtown & the mountainside, with a foot bridge to the waterfront that feels like your little secret. Each room has its own unique personality & layout, a perfect alternative to the usual cookie-cutter hotel room. I stayed in Viola's room, the only room on the main floor - It is maybe not everyone's cup of tea, but personally I loved hearing the sounds of the kitchen firing up in the morning, of the other guests helping themselves to coffee in preparation for the communal breakfast. (Can't stress enough how worth your while the breakfast is!) Just one of the many small details that made me feel right at home. Founders Linda & Mark did a brilliant job restoring this fascinating house to its full glory, and I hope their craftsmanship is appreciated by travelers for many years to come. I can't wait to come back on my next trip to Juneau. What a gem!
