One of the worst hotels we have ever stayed in. Service was terrible right from the start. We arrived in Jeju a few hours before check in time at 3pm, and asked the reception (grumpy Korean man with glasses) if there is a possibility of checking in early. He did not even bothered to look at us (much less greet us) and did not even utter a word. He just pointed to a printout which is in Chinese (thankfully we are bilingual) that reads “no early check in”.
Upon checking in, there was a terrible stench in the room the minute we entered the room (imagine sewage and pee and mould and damp carpet and lack of ventilation all in one). We went down to inform the same rude hotel manager at the reception and he looked at us in the same condescending face with disbelief, and said that he will inform housekeeping to check. Our friends were upstairs and saw that the housekeeping staff simply came in to the room and sprayed some fragrances and left. We came back in the evening and were welcomed with the same terrible stench. I called the reception once more and he said that they have changed the toilet curtain (??). We decided not to pursue it further and use our own perfume to mask the smell. We feedback to the reception the next day and told him that we want to change the room. He said that the new room would be on a different floor and they were unsure if this arrangement can be made. The stench continued and it was unbearable. I had to call the reception at night and asked if she could give me any sort of room spray, which they agreed reluctantly (??). 4 nights here were really terrible.
Toilet floor was also sticky (see image).
What was even more frustrating was, our friends asked for housekeeping cleaning in the morning due to an emergency (a child has fallen sick and vomited) and the same reception staff rudely replied that the housekeeping routine only starts at 1pm. We explained our situation that it was an emergency but the hotel had no sense of urgency. We were shocked that the “clean up” was just a few reluctant wipes. The stench still lingers in the room. Better off if we cleaned it on our own. Further convinced that the carpets in hotel rooms are extremely dirty.
Not sure why Google reviews state this as a 4/5 star hotel. Service was terrible. We would not recommend staying here. The central location does not even make up for the “service” we received.
