Beautifully designed resort that's been reasonably well maintained. Every room has a large balcony looking out over the Pacific and the coastline is stunning. The greatest asset is the beach: it's beautiful, clean, and private. The waves crash continually and some can be quite large, but it's possible to be out past the break and still touch the bottom. The food is not great, especially the restaurants pretending to be fine dining. But the biggest issue is that the all-inclusive option is overly complicated. One of the restaurants isn't included at all, two are available once every two days, leaving only the buffets and the snack bar down on the beach being fully accessible, and even then only certain kinds of alcohol are included. But even if you only order food and drink that are included, you have to sign an itemized bill before you leave every single time you eat or drink anywhere. It's bizarre. Finally, we booked a New Year's Eve dinner with the concierge (not included...only the normal dinner buffet was open, everything else was closed or had a special New Year's Eve menu). When we arrived for dinner our reservation didn't exist. The restaurant staff, to their credit, managed to find us a spot and even rearranged the the tables to make sure we were happy with our location, but it was almost a disaster. The resort staff were very friendly and helpful in general. We had a good time over all, but I don't think that we would ever go back.
