Ashnil Samburu Camp

We stayed in this hotels for one night. What I loved the most was the quality of the food and how friendly and nice all the staff was. TOP experience! better than other similar hotels we have stayed duirng our week in Kenia. Something also that is remarkable, is that you are staying in the middle of the reserve, so you can easily lions and elephants from your room. Lovely! However, something that has room for improvement in my opinion is the isolation of the room from bugs and insects. The room got full of spiders and other tipes of bugs, and there was no net around the bed. Becaus of this, we couldn't properly rest. All the others hotels in Kenia we stayed in were way better with this.

Absolutely the best service, and good food. The location is perfect and going in October/November works very well for weather, wildlife, and general comfort. This camp is highly recommended, but watch the flood warnings, it's right on the river.

Our stay was amazing, staff is very kind and friendly. We always had great service and food was great too. Booked a massage between our morning and afternoon drives and Whinnie our massage therapist did an amazing job. The lodge has a lot of shade so it’s cooler at night. Overall great experience!

Staff were absolutely fantastic. Couldn’t do enough to make our stay better. Food was great and lovely to have a menu choice. Only downside was other guests playing YouTube etc at volume without headphones. Why should we have to listen to that in the serene and relaxing atmosphere of the National Reserve. Suggest a house rule to state that the minority of people who want to listen to phones like that should use headphones

We had stayed at Ashnil Samburu before, we were allocated a tent overlooking the river which was very dry, nevertheless we were able to view game from the veranda, including the pesky monkeys, the tent was kept clean, and was comfortable. Staff were attentive, polite and happy in what they were doing, service at table was great and food of a very good standard. Would we return, a certainty.

We stayed at Ashnil Samburu for two nights in February, one of which was Valentine's night. From the moment we arrived, the staff welcomed us like friends. The accommodation was excellent, the food was delicious and the staff were wonderful. Alan our waiter, was a joy to talk to at mealtimes and we also enjoyed chatting with other members of staff such as Emma in reception, Alfred, the head of housekeeping and Kennedy the head of security. We really appreciated the effort everyone made to make Valentine's day special - from the decorations, the cocktails and canapes by the pool, the lovely dinner with roses and wine, the sweet treats left in our room and the champagne breakfast the following morning. It made our stay even more memorable. Ashnil Samburu was our favourite place to stay on our Kenyan Safari, it is in a great location and we cannot recommend it highly enough to anyone thinking of staying there. We hope to return some day!

The place is quite big. Open, well guarded with nice view and great for your drive/walk safari. Pool is small but clean, good bar (with pushy service), breakfast could be better, lunch/dinner is OK - don't expect fine dining level. The rooms were clean, mostly without real wall, rather with mosquito nets as barrier. Strange arrangement in the cabins, but for a night or two it's fine. Grounds are nice place to have a strall, nice view over the close river and wildlife. All in all a very nice choice.

On behalf of ourselves and our clients Simone & Torsten booked under Smile Tours 2nights 20th and 21st Aug 2023,we say thanks to Mr Okello the General Manager, Mr Edwin the Doctor who attended to our client not forgetting the entire team of the cooks and waiters who were 100% ready to treat our beloved couple for a suprise Sundowner and a marriage proposal champagne ,a mixture of all beverages and snacks. This was not possible if it was not for Mr Okello GM who went beyond his duties to offer us a rescue team of mechanics,extra 4x4 Landcruiser to pick our guests in the middle of the jungle in Samburu Reserve, it took less than 15mins for the Ranger full loaded (security) and his Ashnil team to arrive and pick our guests. It was awesome and shocking to see one call working and getting immediate respond from the General Manager himself,our guests were shocked and did believe their eyes that in the middle of nowhere i could get rescue and quick respond from the entire Samburu Ashnil Camp management courtesy of Mr Okello. For anyone who thinks of visiting northern part of Kenya at Samburu, kindly book Ashnil Samburu Camp because the security, customer care is beyond what others can even go closer,, we have been booking this amazing place and that wont change because all other remaining bookings to Samburu will be 100% reserved at Ashnil Samburu Camp. Our clients went back to Germany with hearts full of joy and expect them to share their own experience with the world as well. Our next booking is there and October 2023 we are there , November and entire this year, next year and beyond. Keep it up Mr Okello and your lovely front office team not forgetting MaDvD the SuperMan incharge of all drinks at the Bar .. The room setting after the late sundowner treat was another suprise for our love birds + complimentary wine in the room. We will continue working together as real partners. We have just spent 5 nights at the Ashnil Samburu camp in Buffalo Springs NR. The tents are very spacious with indoor and outdoor seating areas and nice shower room. The location on the river is superb. We had elephants coming right up to the fence a few feet from our tent, and giraffes strolling past. Every member of staff was exceptionally friendly and they seemed so pleased that we had booked for 5 nights. The restaurant was a la carte service and we were also treated to a bush dinner on our last night. All the food was excellent.. The camp is slightly quirky as the generators are off between 10-12 in the morning and 4-6 in the afternoon. Everything also shuts down between midnight and 5 am. Hot water was available between 5-9pm. We were never successful in getting hot water during the morning session, despite the wood fired burner being lit. We loved this place. The only issue we had was due to a veritable plague of crickets. We had to move out of beautiful room 19 because they were crawling and hopping everywhere. Despite the best efforts of the staff we had problems with crickets during our entire stay. As there are no mosquito nets, the critters would be hopping all over you during the night, and would be jumping all over the tables in the restaurant. Samburu NR and Buffalo Springs NR are stunningly beautiful. We saw a multitude of animals and big cats without the crowds of the Mara. On some days we only saw one other vehicle. Swimming in the natural pool at Buffalo Springs with our fabulous safari guide was magical. Thank you to Ashnil hotels and Somak luxury travel for making this such a memorable trip.
